Rooms

A total of 179 guest rooms -- all large enough to be considered suites -- show off a contemporary, upscale feel with a global collection of furniture and accent pieces.  The Art Nouveau rooms take inspiration from Europe, Asia, the Caribbean, Mexico and South America to create a Zen-like setting with heavy woods, sculptured plaster ceilings and Tiffany stained-glass windows. Guests will be awestruck by other details such as hand-carved mahogany headboards, sea-grass furnishings, Egyptian cotton bedding, stone floors and marble bathrooms with Roman spa baths. Select rooms have balconies with Japanese hot tubs. A set-up fee for these rooms applies.

Features

The hotel is set in the exclusive waterfront enclave of Coconut Grove. The hotel spaces feel like private sanctuaries, including the open-air rooftop pool, where guests soak up panoramic views of Biscayne views from cabanas, and the 4,500-square-foot Jurlique Spa, a place to retreat for massages, facials, nail and body treatments. An all-day restaurant, 24-hour fitness center and candlelit Art Deco-inspired lobby bar round out the offerings.

Great time!

I went with my boyfriend (both in our early 20's) and it was quite the trip! The location was great- the hotel is so elegant! The jacuzzi is extra- but I don't think it is worth it! Being near all restaurants made it great! The closest beach is about 20 minutes away (Miami beach). We took public transportation to try it out- which was not always on time.

Not to their usual standard

I have stayed at the Mayfair Hotel & Spa many times and always had an excellent experience. Unfortunately this recent visit was far from excellent. I checked in and found my room which was spacious and well appointed however I would not say it was clean. There was a thick layer of dust on the edges of the floor and on the picture frames etc. On my second day I returned after a day at work and found a cockroach running around in my room. I killed it and went to the front desk to ask them to send housekeeping to clean it up. They wrote it down and said someone would be up. By the following morning it had still not been cleaned and I had to do it myself. A couple of days later I needed to send some laundry for cleaning and so, after reading the booklet, went to the front desk at 8:00am and told them I had a bag of laundry to be collected from my room. They lady told me it would be back the following day despite the in room guide saying that if it was sent before 9:00am it would be returned the same day. When I got back from work that evening I found the bag of dirty laundry still sat on my bed even though the room had been made up. I took it down to the front desk who apologised and said they would have it back to me the following day, my last day at the hotel. The following evening I received it back at around 8:00pm. I checked it the following morning when packing and found one of my tshirts was missing and that I had someone elses instead of mine. I once again went to the front desk and they said they would look into it but that the laundry did not open until 10:00am....30 minutes after I had to be at the airport. On the Thursday I sent an email to the hotel listing my problems and concerns about my stay. I got an auto reply saying I would be contacted within 24 hours. It is now Monday afternoon and I have still heard nothing. Not good customer service. It is a real shame as the Mayfair used to be an excellent Hotel and was always my first choice. I shall no longer be booking here.

Scotty's Landing is right on the waterfront hear city hall. Although basic the food is great and the atmosphere even better. There is talk that Scotty's may close as the city want a new luxury mall built on the site.....Please support Scotty's by eating there. Well worth the visit.

Great location and good value

I've stayed here twice this last year and have enjoyed each visit. The location cannot be beat, it's close to everything. This isn't a 5 start hotel, but it is a nice place, with large clean rooms, a nice private balcony and hot tub. It's been remodeled, but if you look closely in the daylight you can see some its age marks, but otherwise it's great. I regularly visit family in the area, prefer to stay in Coconut Grove and this is now my favorite place to stay.

Perfect Honeymoon Week

This is where my husband and I spent our honeymoon. We are from Chicago and this was our first time in Miami. The Mayfair was the perfect place for us. The staff was amazing, very polite and helpful. From the head manager to the engineer (who turns on the hot tube) everyone was fantastic!! Our favorite staff was the Valet guys. They were the most helpful with giving directions, working fast & being friendly. We LOVE the inside/outside design. It’s like and outdoor hotel where you can hear all of nature’s sounds but once inside your room you don't hear anything... until you open your own personal patio with a hot tube & wicker seating! It’s hard to explain in writing, so you'll just have to go and see it for yourself! This place was GREAT!! I would fly back there again just for another hotel stay like that! Thanks Mayfair Staff for making our honeymoon one to remember! Kyra & Dez

Frustration

Room wasn't ready at 8:30pm. Japan style hot tub advertised in each room nearly $30 up charge. It never got hot & no hot water in shower 11:30pm! Coffee maker had old coffee and grounds in it. Reported these deficiencies and was told management would comp a future one night stay, that never happened.

Dont Be Fooled by Pretty Pictures

We arrived late after midnight was looking forward to getting in the hottub had called ahead earlier in the day to make sure that it was nice and hot and bubbly it was neither hot or bubbly because it did not work so we decided to lay down why I dont know there was hair in the bed and it only had a a botton sheet and a comforter on it there was dust on the headboard with the broken light on it infact there was dust everywhere behind the tv and on the dresser the bathroom was ughhh we decided not to stay another night so we left and the hottub still was on and and was not hot but it did throw water everywhere and the furniture that was out beside the hottub had seen better days so when I say dont be fooled by beautiful pictures believe me thats what got me and the staff works like the hottub and when I told the Manager about the room and why we wernt stayingI was told I was not getting a refund and when I contacted the corporation that owns it I never heard anything back from them. there was one other thing that bothered me and that was when I got up to go on the balcony there is some kind of comedy building and there were people in an office that had a direct view inside the room.I was not paying much attention when we checked in but when we were leaving I noticed all the flowers and trees growing inside it made me think of Tarzan and Jane living in a tree.

Value for money

The location of the hotel is not close to beach, if you are looking for that. But, in general the district is very nice, you have shops and bars just in a short walking distance.

Almost perfect

My girlfriend and I had an wonderful stay at the Mayfair. We had a case of some jewelry that came up missing, but after notifying security the jewelry mysteriously re-appeared. But, other than that...everything was pretty cool.
