The best feature of this hotel is its location. You cross the street and you are on a white sand beach. There are many restaurants and shops at a walking distance. It is an old construction but simple and comfortable.

Good Old Fashioned SERVICE!

Wasn't expecting much when booking this motel for 3 days. Upon arrival I was instantly made to feel welcome, and KC informed me before checking in - we had to go on a quick tour. OK? The purpose of this 5 minute tour was to show us a room on the 5th and 3rd floor. Every room in this place is decorated different. So we were allowed to choose. From the 5th floor vantage point he showed and informed us of local restaurants, the pier, marina etc.. Unique is the view of both the beach/ Gulf and in other direction Bay with lights of city twinkling - breath taking! My wife and I choose room 54 on the 5th floor because it had a nice kitchenette which saved us a bunch by getting snaks - a dozen eggs, sandwich makings. Room was huge! Nice Pergo wood look floor. Bath obviously updated. The office has good coupons and info on local attractions and the staff here I learned have all lived here for many years. The maid has been there 16 years! The place was spotlessly clean. Veronica is a nice older polish immigrant lady that runs the place. Stopping in the Office each morning for the most delicious coffee and assorted cookies - she has the warmest smile, and you can tell she truly cares that your happy and enjoying your stay. My only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer and my wife & I hope to bring the kids back to Clearwater Beach. We will definitely choose this place which seems to be one of few remaining original gulf front motels not replaced by luxury resorts that cost 3X as much. Clearwater Beach is simply beautiful! Nice gentle surf and powder soft sand, great for families like us with younger kids. Can not thank the Ritz enough for making sure we had a fabulous Florida vacation! But trust this review helps your efforts.

Pier 60 had all kinds of vendors - street performers - crafts for sale. Kids loved picture with Captain Jack Pirate - Balloon Guy, and jumbo slide. Nice playground and park area.

Good Hotel for the $

We stayed at this hotel because we were in town for a beach wedding and liked what we read from the reviews. As a mom of 2 boys, 2 and 5 I wanted to be as close as possible to the wedding site without breaking the bank with the necessary conviniences of home. We stayed in the large efficiency #39, 2 queen beds, two tables 6 chairs, kitchette with fridge, microwave, dishes for four, a couple of pots and silverware, 2 burner hotplate, and coffee maker (no coffee supplied). This was a great location, across from the beach, next door to Frenchy's South (HUGE PLUS) and McDonalds and close to everything including a Walgreens. Although its an older hotel, circa 1950's, and the pool and elevator are small, the bathroom was clearly recently remodeled and very clean the linens and bed dress clean and pretty. The hotel is a "mom and pop" establishment which has it's plus' and minuses. Nothing fancy, but perfect for the money. Plus - Location, Room Size, room amenities, windows and great balcony. Minuses = parking is TIGHT if you have to park under the building in a mid size or bigger. BUT it's FREE which is a plus on the beach compared to $15 a day. The carpet was dirty, so much so that walking out of the shower, 4 feet to the bed, your feet were grey. While I realize it's on the beach, I still think this is something that needs to be addressed. Lastly, if you make your reservation online, and you are not asked if there are children, you need to make a point to let them know BEFORE check in. We called the front desk twice for towels, open (9am-9pm) eventually had to go get them ourselves but each time we called, we had to hear (with attitude)about how we have two kids that we didnt put on our reservation and we were made to feel like we were trying to cheat them, and how they saw that we had a visitor and this was not allowed. Come to find out it's because kids over 9 pay an additional fee. Ours are clearly under 9 (just turned 2 and 5). I addressed the attitude we had received the night before, explained they were 5 and under and that our "visitor" was my father in law who stayed less than 10 minutes, long enough to say hello to his grandchildren and drop off the shirt for the wedding, we received an apology for the misunderstanding. OVERALL, I GIVE THIS ONE A 4 out of 5, I will stay again as miscommunication is no reason to down the hotel as a whole.
