Holiday Inn CLEARWATER-ST PETERBURG ARPT

We were only at the Holiday Inn overnight prior to flying out of PIE early in the morning. The hotel lobby looks nice enough, but that is the only good thing we can say. The first floor (both smoking and non-smoking) smelled musty, the toilets were disgusting, and the walls are paper thin. The in-room coffee pot was dirty and cracked so we asked for another. After 45 minutes, we went to the front desk to wait for it. Then when we made coffee, the replacement pot was the wrong size and it overflowed all over the bathroom. The restaurant was empty, but took forever since the one waitress also had to deliver room service. The food was nothing special and there were flies and fruit flies in restaurant. We were told by the restaurant staff that there was a breakfast buffet at 6am; however, when we left for McDonalds at 6:15am there was still nothing set up. The hotel did have coffee available in the lobby at 5:30am; but, only had DECAF (who wants decaf at 5:30am?) and there was no cream. There is no insulation in the rooms. The planes sound like they are right next door because they are. Luckily, the airport must stop flights between 9pm-6am, so sleeping was not an issue after 9pm. I am unsure if they are remodeling the 1st floor, but the first 5 rooms did not have locks on them at all. The connecting room locks did not work in either of our rooms; they did supply an alternate sliding lock, but I think my young child could have broke into the next room by just pushing from our side. The extra chain lock on the main door also looked like it was busted in at some point. If we did not arrive so late and were not flying so early in the morning, we would have changed hotels immediately. Needless to say, we had no problem leaving this hotel. We couldn't wait!!!

just stayed overnight since landing at airport at 11:00 PM. Too late to drive to final destination of Fort Meyers that late at night.

Stayed there on my visit to Clearwater to take in a few Phillies spring training games. A good location. It was about 10 minutes to Bright House Field and about 20 minutes to the beach. The hotel was exremely clean and the staff was very helpful. Definitely would recommend aaand stay there again.

Very nice hotel. Comfortable rooms and helpful stafff.
