Executive Inn Clearwater Airport

When I got off plane, I called hotel for the airport shuttle. The phone number for the hotel was a number for an assisted living home. I took a cab to the hotel thinking the number was wrong.I arrived at the hotel, which is now an assisted living home. The cab driver took me to hotel across the steet. This hotel had a room but twice the price, and I had already paid for a room at a hotel that is now closed down.

We chose this hotel for it's price and location to Tropicana Field. It's about 10 miles N of the stadium, quite an easy drive. It was near a few late night fast food joints and a gas station as well. Check in was a little strange. The staff was friendly but seemed overwhelmed by two guests arriving for check in at the same time and having to answer the phone. We booked a non-smoking room, and it smelled like a non-smoking room. We have stayed in places that have put us in obvious smoking rooms and told us otherwise, so to have it really be what we asked for was a plus. The pool area was clean & the landscaping was tropical & quaint, but contrary to the notes posted in the rooms stating that there were pool towels available, there were no pool towels available at any times. When we asked at the front desk we were given the excuse that "the cleaning crew was running late this morning and hasn't even arrived" and were told to go back to our rooms to get our towels. That left us with soaking wet towels for our showers. The advertised continental breakfast was sparse. The food was not refreshed as people finished- there was enough juice for 1/2 cup, we had to mix 1/2 decaf with 1/2 regular to make ONE cup of coffee, the bread products were stale, and no batter was out to use on the hot waffle iron. No staff was available to help either. We learned from another guest that we had also been given the wrong time for breakfast. We were told 630-930, we had arrived at 830. The guest told us breakfast ended at 9. Either way, breakfast was a flop. Had we been staying for an extended period of time, (and by "extended" I mean more than one night!) we would have gone elsewhere, but since we only needed a place to sleep following a nighttime baseball game, the hotel served it's purpose for it's price. Next time, however, I'll pay the money to stay at a nicer place, closer to the field and skip the driving & paying for parking.

Did not get the poolside room ordered and when switched did not get the queen size beds ordered.Hotel was child friendly, however there were newspapers at the bottom of the pool, and mulch from the feet of the kids playing in the pool floating all over the top. I looked for a net to clean the pool myself but none was available, When i complained about the debrie and the unheated freezing cold pool i was told someone would take care of it. No one did. The pool was the same condition the next morning. On the plus side it was pretty quiet for sleeping and rooms were clean. For an over night stay as we did i would recommend. for a vacation hotel for kids i would recommend. For a couple to spend a week.... no go!

Old....electronic door lock didn't work well.

A huge disappointment. Waited too long at 11:30 pm to check in. Hallways filthy. The room was disgustingly dirty; carpets old, black marks on bathroom walls and doors, mould around bathroom fixtures. Was supposed to be a 'non smoking' room - not so much! Inside door lock broken and missing. Continental breakfast room very small and crowded. The food was not great and the coffee was horrible. Thank goodness, it was only for one night.

I was there for business and pleasure. Friend and I went to the beach and I went to look at locations for employment. I was surprised at the lack of linen. The room was only cleaned one day of the five we statyed there. One time I was asked if I wanted the room cleaned, we were late getting going, and I indicated later. It was never cleaned. The spanish speaking staff did not understand what I had said. The other issue is the pass key did not work 8 times out of 10. The staff quickly came to open the door for us but it was a pain to have to go back to the desk each time to request assistance. The battery on the lock was not fixed until the day we were leaving. The staff were very nice. The breakfast was lacking. I only went one time and did not return related to the lack of items to eat. I do not intend to berate the facility. I only hope my comments will help them improve their facility for future guests.

To relax and watch a few ball games.

I was disappointed that there was no restaurant in the same building. There was one at the outer edge of the property. The staff was super, and the room was very clean. We had a poolside room and enjoyed it very much. We asked for and were given a late checkout which gave us more time to relax and enjoy the whirlpool and pool.
