Worst Spa Hotel Ever!!!!
Hell Spa Hotel! Nov 29, 2009
What a Nightmare!!! I took my wife here for our Thanksgiving weekend. She is 6 months pregnant and I thought that a spa ... weekend would be a good way for her to relax. Boy was I wrong! The walls are paper thin and you could hear a pin drop outside your door. Instead of a relaxing weekend, we had two sleepless nights and checked out a day early because we couldn't take it any more. Guest services were constantly slamming doors and other staff use "push-to-talk" phones so you feel like you're on a construction site. Complaints about the noise went unanswered. When I tried to check out a day early they staff couldn't even figure out how to give me a proper receipt that reflected the resort fees we should have been charged. I didn't even try to dispute the last day of room fees. I just wanted to get the hell out of there and away from the high school drop outs they hire to staff the place. Don't stay at this hotel!!!!

One Ocean, One Time
djc1877 Nov 23, 2009
My wife and I spent the weekend at One Ocean and it was a very attractive hotel. Very cool decor throughout and a nice ... evening bar scene on the back patio. The mandatory concierge (or whatever their name is for it) was unnecessary, and therefore expensive for a useless service. If I had a business meeting there, this particular feature would have been more appropriate. I have an allergy to Down items (i.e. pillows) and they were unable to accommodate my need with hypo-allergenic items. There were people smoking on our floor, which we obviously didn't care for. The sinks drained very slowly. Included internet was nice. Valet was a little hysterical, as they park the car very nearby and then when I needed my sunglasses they gave me the keys and pointed to where they parked it. I wouldn't have cared, but for $20/day it would have been nice for them to actually earn it. It wasn't a bad place to stay, but it is what it is. Definitely get an Ocean FRONT room, NOT Ocean VIEW... that was our mistake. I think this place would be more ideal for us during the warmer months so we could enjoy the pool area. Otherwise, the location is perfect for a quick getaway. Also, don't think I'm cheap... I've stayed at all the big hotel chains (Ritz, W, Loews, etc.) and just want what I pay to be worth what I get in return. Our room (and especially bathroom) were tiny!

There are some very nice little restaurants and shops within brief walking distance of One Ocean. The immediate area is what truly gives this hotel a competitive edge... very nice weekend getaway spot.

kpeterman127 Nov 15, 2009
We had a wonderful stay for our anniversary. The rooms are very clean and well appointed. The staff was friendly and ... helpful. The only negatives I would say is the double rooms are kinda tight with very small bathrooms, and the resort fee that was added at the end of our trip. Other than that, the hotel is GORGEOUS and I am so glad to have something like it in Jacksonville. They have a great outdoor bar - dining area next to the beach.

The Blue Angels were there and that was great, but we didn't get the rrom we were suppose to have because they were staying ... there. We enjoyed the beach, the night life and the Blue Angels performance. This was a fantastic trip and the price was right. The service was great and I would definitely stay here again....... The hotel has been remodeled and it was gorgeous. The hotel was the Sea Turtle before the remodel. They had the best bloody marys ever and the one I had Fri nite was horrible. It was made with V8 juice!!!!The bartender was very rude, too..

Brady Oct 8, 2009
The drive up to the hotel starts off by being very welcoming. The lobby was impressive and nice. Registration went very ... smooth and I was taken to the elevator and given directions to my room. On arrival at the room it was clean and nice. I had a view of the ocean. I guess if there was a down side to the hotel, they did not have an iron or ironing board in the room. And the bathroom was a bit snug. The overall stay was very nice and I plan on returning for a longer stay.

Just ... plan for a little bit of time for the docents to complete your requests. The rooms and the ambiance was very relaxing. Make sure to check out all of the benefits and perks that come with staying at the resort. We were in town for a Florida Gators football game and they provided us with directions and helpful hints. Dino Sep 2, 2009
Second time that I stayed at this hotel and most of the amenities were nice, except for the small bathrooms( no tubs to soak ... in) and the fact that my request for a massage at the spa went totally ignored( I inquired at my arrival at 4:45 p.m. what time they closed, six p.m., and were there any openings for a massage, the place was empty, both the staff at the spa and the "docent" never responded, despite the fact that I left my room number with the spa and the "docent" actually came to my room to inquire as to any thing that I needed. You would think that after billing guests an automatic fee for this service , that they would actually do something...

Wonderful First Time Experience
Fortunate Family Aug 27, 2009
We had a wonderful time. Check-in from the valet to arriving at our room was smooth and pleasant. Our room was very clean, ... quiet, beautiful ocean view, comfortable bedding, and wonderful amenities. The staff members were available to us whenever we needed them (for directions/info on local attractions, local restaurants, laundering services, morning coffee, etc.). The property recently underwent a multi-million dollar renovation and offered wonderful art and decor. The spa services were wonderful and we were often greet by name. Positives about our stay: friendly and helpful staff, location/direct beach access, wonderful ocean view room, walking accessibility to several restaurants and has option for on-site dining, relaxing pool, valet services, wonderful variety of art and decor all over the property. The only significant issue we had was the fee for the valet services. This fee was not disclosed to us prior to booking our reservation/check-in (we booked online). But the staff quickly verified our claim and promptly credited us for the valet charges. We typically do not like to vacation at overly crowded locations. We were told that it is busier there on the weekend than during the week. We were glad we stayed during the week and would recommend staying during the week as an option for those that like limited crowds. We plan to stay here again on a future vacation and hope to bring our children, and other family and friends with us.
