The village of Montchanin, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, lies mid-way between Washington DC and New York, in historic Brandywine Valley. Once part of Winterthur, Montchanin gets its namefrom the grandmother of the founder of the DuPont Company. The Inn is a collection of 11 carefully restored 18th and 19th century buildings on 6 acres with each of the 28 immaculate rooms and suites furnished with period furniture, Frette linens and marble baths. Mostrooms have beautifully manicured private courtyards and several have cosy fireplaces. Enjoy a walk down Privy Lane to savour the gardens and uniqueness of this historic property before indulging in a luxurious massage at the wonderful new spa. In the evening try Krazy Kats Restaurant, once the village blacksmiths shop, famous for its fresh seasonally-inspired creative cuisine and its whimsical decor. The Inn At Montchanin Village and Spa is a Small Luxury Hotels of the World property.

Romantic Getaway

Our stay was absolutely wonderful. The staff was pleasant & knowledgeable. Our room was so beautiful, clean, comfortable, and well stocked. They paid attention to every detail - chocolates on the pillows, a card with the weather forecast for the next day, comfortable bed, everything you could think of. We had a drink at the bar, sat by the fire, and played a game of Chinese Checkers. We at breakfast at the Krazy Kats restaurant, and it was delicious. Even though it is 7 hrs from our home, can't wait to go back.

Unique and absolutely charming

The Inn is a completely unique "hotel" for persons looking for something quite out of the ordinary. It is luxurious with every possible "want" taken care of. Masses of lovely, soft white towels, soaps, personal care items, turn down service, flat screen TV, comfortable chairs and bed, plenty of storage, iron, hairdryer etc. Even a microwave and some cutlery and coffee and tea maker if one does not wish to eat in the splendid restaurant which is part of the hotel. Each little colonial cottage is set in beautiful gardens and is literally minutes away from parking and the restaurant. A real find!
