let me begin by saying I have stayed here before, 1 to 2 years ago. The mattress, pillows and towels were showing their age. The ceiling showed water spots from several large leaks. The room and bathroom were both very clean. The continental breakfast was like most places. The problem was that the hotel was completely booked and the one poor lady couldn't begin to keep it stocked. It was a nice location for our needs....we were there to visit family and attend a wedding .... not go to the beach. But, it was an easy walking distance from the beach. Mickey's Crab House and Walgreens share the same general parking area, that made life pretty simple.

Most hotels in the Ocean City area are old and dirty. The Holiday Inn in Bethany Beach was a short drive to Ocean City where we were working a booth at Sunfest. The hotel was very clean, comfortable, and fairly new. The staff was friendly and helpful with extra towels, breakfast, late check in, etc. The full hot breakfast was one of the best ever in a hotel! You MUST get the warm cinnamon rolls! We will definitely stay in this hotel for all of our Ocean City events!

THe hotel listed room service as an amenity. When I arrived I was told there was none. The hotel was close to the beach. Outside it was cool with an ocean breeze. Inside you were forced to use a/c. All windows were sealed. The a/c was pre-set to auto so the fan kept going on and off with the compressor that was very distracting. Also the air conditioner filter was FILTHY. When a/c is a necessity (no open windows) in the summer, you would think the maintenance would keep the filters clean. I had to clean it for air flow and the nasty fllth clouded the bathroom because the exhaust fan didnt work. I would not go there again. It was expensive. Orbitz was misleading.

The hotel breakfast was TERRIBLE. Plan on packing food or brining fruit to supplement.

I felt this was expensive for what we received. They would not allow early check in. The breakfast was good, but very little seating. I thought this was overpriced for what we received.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Bethany Beach for a family reunion. It was within walking distance of the beach, which was really nice. It was also very close to Bethany Proper condos, which is where the rest of the family was staying, so that was handy as well. The hotel does have a free hot breakfast from 6:30am-9:30am, which was really pretty good. (The gravy for the biscuits and gravy was a little weird, but it was still good. Next to the hotel is Happy Harry's Walgreens drugstore, Beach Liquors, and Mickey's Family Crab Shack. There was a massage place and an ice cream shop across the highway from the hotel, too. It was really convenient to have all of that at hand. I did not stay with any children, but there were lots of kids around--the pool seemed to be a lot of fun for them. The family also used one of the hotel's meeting rooms to host a 90th birthday party for the family matriarch. The room was conveniently located and clean. If I were to host any sort of event in Bethany Beach in the future, I'd try to get this room again. It was the perfect size and the staff had done a good job at setting the room up. Speaking of the staff, maid service was great, and the front-desk staff were very nice, attentive, and helpful with all our requests. Considering the beach resort location and the quality of the hotel, this was a very reasonably priced stay.
