Dining

international lounge
The keynote of the international is the feeling of grown-up glamour and sophistication that reigned throughout the Kennedy years - the golden age of All-American-Style; full of promise and ambition. This is not Austin Powers or Warhol Pop. Think Babe Paley; think dressed up, crisp clothed jet-setters and kings of commerce enjoying a classic champagne cocktail, nibbling an elegant snack, while engaging in intense flirtation and conversation into the wee hours - after all one can always stay over.
No. 10 Thomas
No. 10 Thomas offers Contemporary American cuisine and the perfect ambience for any meal. Watch the "Early birds" at Logan Circle in the morning, sunbathers taking a dip in our pool after lunch, or the sunset over National City Christian Church in the evening. Sip a Glass of Champagne or enjoy a cocktail by candle light on our Poolside terrace and make a wish while counting the shooting stars over Washington D.C.

Pitiful

Their web site states they have covered parking, and while they do, what they fail to mention is that the deck is owned by another entity and they soak you for nightly fees and valet parking fees. The staff were not professional to any degree. The Bell-Hop actually stuck out his hand and wanted his tip before the luggage hit the floor, this was a first for me. I will not recommend this establishment to anyone.

Deflated

Before I even checked in they were trying to extract money from me. Firstly they said my vehicle was too tall and would have to pay over $30 a day valet parking. I later checked their parking. My vehicle was two inches lower than the limit and three vehicle already in the parking were taller than mine. When confronted with this the night manager apologised and said we would not be charged. At check out even after this was explained still charged. Everything is designed to rip more money off you with no consideration as to how they can make your stay better. I would not stay there again if they paid me. I have never made a complaint against a hotel before and I travel commercially all the time. This hotel is the equal worst I have ever stayed at.

old, stained, rusty, but fairly good location

The staff is lovely but oi vey- what a room. just like other reviewers said the carpet was horribly dirty, the curtains has some black stuff all over then, the bathroom was rusty, and one bed was BROKEN- actually bent in the middle when you sat on it! unbelievable that i was not already replaced. i do not mean a bit of a sag- i mean BROKEN so badly that you slid into the middle! - absolutely not worth it. will never stay here again! nice pool but CLOSED AT 8PM- no lights ! the best part of a pool is having that evening swim after a hot day of sightseeing. not recommended even though very very nice staff.

My review of Washington Plaza Hotel

Hotel was ok but the waiter (and I call him waiter, not server) was less than acceptable. I was with my 12 year old grandson and the waiter totally ignored him. When my grandso requested a children's menu, the waiter brought iy to me and reluntly handed it to my grandson when I told him to. He was arrogant and rude. When we required additional water or other drinks,we had to ask. No follow-up service was ever offered after our meal was served. We never went back for any additional meals. I complained about this on check-out and the desk clerk apologized and compedour meal. Also, the fitness center could use a Sauna or Whirlpool for relaxing after a hard day of sightseeing.

Not Again

While I have heard stories about this place, I chose it anyway because of the price and location. The tv reception was bad, you had to pay for internet connection. I had a balconey (which was connected to everyone on the same level) and while the room was non smoking, those in the other rooms who chose to go on the balconey to smoke, made my room a smoking room. Due to the old smell (anything that has not been used in awhile will have a odd old smell to it) I bought Febreze to spray. Good suggestion to hotel staff. There where 4 elevators available, but you still had to wait and one elevator had two sets of buttons and if you did not get to the right one fast enough, you went for a tour of the building.

Wouldn't stay here again

The hotel definetely needs updating - BADLY. The carpets are threadbare and there is no ambience. When you get off the elevator, the carpets are dirty and there is nothing on the walls or halls - not a picture, not a plant, nothing. The lobby is dullsville with furniture from the seventies. The staff at the front desk was nice and the breakfast was good (though expensive).

It had a good resturant, bar, and good serivce. The room was right beside the elevator and you could hear it going up and down.

good value but dated

Good value for the room rate but needs an upgrade to get rid of the purple color scheme. Staff were usually friendly and helpful. I would stay again but only at discounted rates.

It sucked! Small rooms ...

The room didn't resemble the pictures on the website at all. I selected this hotel because of its location and outdoor pool. The ideal was that my wife and kids could hit the museums and swim while I attended business downtown. The rooms were small and the old Zenith tv didn't have any input jacks to connect the kids Playstation. I have three boys, Playstation is a must! The rooms did not have a microware so we asked if we could warm our food in the microwave and they said only if the food was purchased from the hotel!!! I couldn't believe it, we're paying almost $200 a night and we can't heat up a couple of pizza slices? Wow!!! Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the coffee machine was in the bathroom next to the toilet. Your next cup of Joe is on me … Great location (walking distance to the White House) but the rooms sucked! Would be a great offering if they updated the place. Experience: 7/09
