Dining

international lounge
The keynote of the international is the feeling of grown-up glamour and sophistication that reigned throughout the Kennedy years - the golden age of All-American-Style; full of promise and ambition. This is not Austin Powers or Warhol Pop. Think Babe Paley; think dressed up, crisp clothed jet-setters and kings of commerce enjoying a classic champagne cocktail, nibbling an elegant snack, while engaging in intense flirtation and conversation into the wee hours - after all one can always stay over.
No. 10 Thomas
No. 10 Thomas offers Contemporary American cuisine and the perfect ambience for any meal. Watch the "Early birds" at Logan Circle in the morning, sunbathers taking a dip in our pool after lunch, or the sunset over National City Christian Church in the evening. Sip a Glass of Champagne or enjoy a cocktail by candle light on our Poolside terrace and make a wish while counting the shooting stars over Washington D.C.

Nice Place!

I've stayed in many DC hotels and this is my first experience at the Plaza--it's a very nice place to stay for the money. It's clean and the staff are very helpful. I would recommend the Plaza and am sure that I'll be back!

Excellent value for the area

The hotel is in a great location that is walking distance to the metro, DuPont, numerous shops and places to eat, and Embassy Row. Well worth the money, especially considering the area. My only complaint is the lack of coffee in the lobby.

Great bang for the buck

The hotel was very comfortable, clean, and very close walking distance to U Street and a short walk to downtown. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were small and the hotel was a little run down, but definitely worth the money. I am going to start staying here regularly.

Where are the electrical outlets in the renovated rooms?

I have stayed this before and I noticed that they refurbished the rooms. That's fine, but they forgoit one thing: electrical outlets! There are a couple which are blocked by the massive furniture. Unless you climb under the bed or table, reach behind the wall board and unplug a lamp to plug in your coffee maker, you have no outlets! I had to use the plug in the bathroom to charge my iphone. Who designed these rooms? That person should be made to send a day or two there to make him/her aware of his/her flawed design. Other that that, the hotel is OK...no frills...

Dining tip: In Hotel

They open breakfast late! 6:60am... If you have an early flight, forget about eating at the hotel. Also, our group was having a drink at midnight when the night manager asked us to leave as they were going to clean up the bar... Do not expect too much from dining at this hotel as will not get much...

Great value in Washington, DC

I have really enjoyed my stay at Washington Plaza hotel. The price was much lower than in other places at the same area. And location is perfect: just couple blocs away from the McPherson square metro stop, and generally within walking distance to downtown. Also, ever colorful Dupont circle area is very close. Room was spacious and clean. Both check-in and check-out were fast. I would highly recommend this place.

Smooth stay

Great experience. Room was clean and well appointed. Modern headboard and desk had ample outlets and worked well in the room. Property has an aged charm but well maintained. All of the staff were courteous, professional and thorough. Reasonable parking on site. Lots of food choices close by. Will definitely stay again. Easy booking, trouble free check-in and good price.

Unfriendly staff and non-functioning amenities

We stayed at the hotel for a couple of nights after Christmas. When we arrived at the hotel, since we were not sure where the parking area was, we stopped the car at the front of the hotel to go in and ask. Minutes later, we heard the bell hop screaming across the hotel lobby from the front door asking if we were going to move the car, which to me was very rude and embarrassing. When we got to the room, we decided to get some soda from the vending area only to find that there was no vending machine available. When we called downstairs, the front desk agent told us that they no longer offer vending service (even though they have an area designated for vending) and that we had to go to the gift store to buy the soda. However, the gift store was only opened for a couple of hours a day. Hence, we had to walk to the CVS across the street to get the snacks and soda. Finally, this hotel advertise free wireless internet service. However, when we got to the room, we were not able to connect to the internet per instructions provided. We tried using three different system (iPad, iPhone and laptop) and none worked. When we called the help desk, we were told that a technician will call us back on my cell but no one ever did. For some reason, when we get back to the hotel later that night, the internet was working. The rest of our stay was pretty much the same experience, e.g. cleaning staff who was not very friendly, front desk agent who did not seemed to care about our stay, etc. All in all, it was definitely an underwhelming experience.

Anniversary trip

Rooms are small no fridge or microwave. Ice machiine didn't work but, the staff came around on our second night to fill our ice buckets and gave out bottles of water. Parking was very expensive $54.00 for two days. Other than those issues clean safe hotel. 7th floor view was nice..
