Dining

international lounge
The keynote of the international is the feeling of grown-up glamour and sophistication that reigned throughout the Kennedy years - the golden age of All-American-Style; full of promise and ambition. This is not Austin Powers or Warhol Pop. Think Babe Paley; think dressed up, crisp clothed jet-setters and kings of commerce enjoying a classic champagne cocktail, nibbling an elegant snack, while engaging in intense flirtation and conversation into the wee hours - after all one can always stay over.
No. 10 Thomas
No. 10 Thomas offers Contemporary American cuisine and the perfect ambience for any meal. Watch the "Early birds" at Logan Circle in the morning, sunbathers taking a dip in our pool after lunch, or the sunset over National City Christian Church in the evening. Sip a Glass of Champagne or enjoy a cocktail by candle light on our Poolside terrace and make a wish while counting the shooting stars over Washington D.C.

homey atmosphhere

It was busy but quiet and easy to get around the hotel. The staff was very helpful. Dining was good and the food was plentiful but average in preperation and presentation. The room size was small but addiquit. The view was not the best[next to appartment complex]. All-IN-all it was a pleasant experience....

My review of Washington Plaza Hotel

Hotel was ok but the waiter (and I call him waiter, not server) was less than acceptable. I was with my 12 year old grandson and the waiter totally ignored him. When my grandso requested a children's menu, the waiter brought iy to me and reluntly handed it to my grandson when I told him to. He was arrogant and rude. When we required additional water or other drinks,we had to ask. No follow-up service was ever offered after our meal was served. We never went back for any additional meals. I complained about this on check-out and the desk clerk apologized and compedour meal. Also, the fitness center could use a Sauna or Whirlpool for relaxing after a hard day of sightseeing.

My review of Washington Plaza Hotel

The hotel had a very nice lobby area as well as an outdoor pool with plenty of table and chairs around. The staff was quite friendly. Our car broke down while on our trip, and the staff quickly got us help to fix the situation. There were a few nice places in the area to get a refreshment and we were fairly close to the metro to see the sights.

Nice for adults

The property was well kept up but, on the edge of a not so nice neighborhood. The hotel itself, was still in the downtown area, but a block away the area did not feel safe. Taxis were always available at the front entrance though, and the hotel is on a bus line. The location is not walking distance from any of the D.C. attractions. The rooms were clean and had a separate closet area as well as a separate double sink area. I would have liked a table with chairs in the room to sit around rather than the desk, desk chair and lounge chair but I think the hotel caters to business clients more than to families. The food was very good in the fine dining restaurant. The outdoor pool was very nice. I would recommend the property for adults, but not for families with children.

Great Location

Very friendly, helpful staff. The open air pool was large enough for a good swim with plenty of room to catch the sun - nicely landscaped. I liked the hotel location - we could walk to many of the memorials, the capitol etc, and there are good restaurants and cafes nearby. I look forward to staying there again.

Great value for the location

The Washington Plaza is very centrally located and though the building is a bit older it is very well maintained and the rooms are spacious and clean. The pool and outdoor lounge area looked like it would be quite pleasant in season.

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

Walking up Massachusetts Avenue in front of the hotel towards the higher numbered streets will bring you to the Dupont area and then a further walk up Connecticut from the Dupont circle will also bring you to the Adams Morgan neighborhood. Both Dupont and Addams Morgan have an interesting mix of shops and various ethnic restaurants etc.

Good for business

This hotel was fine for a business trip, but there was not much to do at the hotel. There was no restaurant or bar and not much space in the lobby. The hotel room was nice and the continental breakfast was nice each morning, but there was not much else going on in this hotel. It served the purpose of being close to the convention center, but did not have too many extra frills.

My review of Washington Plaza Hotel

I thought the hotel itself was was nice and clean. When you walk in you get a very pleasant welcome at the desk and by the consiairs. The room was very nice and clean but it was stuffy and a to warm and I could not turn the vent down any cooler. The location was wonderful, I allways wanted to stay in downtown DC so I could walk everywhere and it was so close to all the attractions.

Old style but comfortable!

Wasinhton Plaza Hotel was satisifying to my needs. The rooms were fairly spacious and the bedding was like home! The staff was very curtious and helpful. I was concerned that when the fire alarm went off at 5:30AM that I was not able to reach the front desk. They stated that there may have been many calls, for me to get through, to reach anyone. The fire alarm was pulled due to smoke during an elevator repair. No one did anything and an evacuation did not occur. ?? Despite this, I was happy with the hotel overall especially for its great location.
