Good location close to metro.

Good location close to metro but too far to walk from downtown. The room price was a litlle too expensive compared to the fact that breakfast was not included. Room was clean and big enough.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

Take the metro to near the national mall. Holocaust museum is really impressive and free. The Newseum is a great experience but not free. Worth the entrance.

Good Location, Good Staff, Good Value

Happy with the Washington Marriott Wardman Park, would recommend it and stay there again. Amenities: No continental breakfast, room service $45 for two people. No thanks. Free internet computers in lobby. Location: close to good restaurants, things we needed to do, 2 min walk from Metro station. Cleanliness: Excellent Room Comfort: Architects designed the bathrooms too small, even for two thin people to share. Staff: Very VERY helpful and accommodating. Value: More than we usually pay, but good price for the quality. NOTE: The water is awful, smelly, bad tasting, but that's for all of D.C., not the hotel's fault.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Don't waste money on rental car and exorbitant D.C. parking fees. Ride the Metro (subway). Clean, easy to transfer, short wait times. 2 minute walk from Hotel (though LONG escalator ride into the bowels of the earth--not for acrophobics).

DC Getaway

Can't say enough about the staff!! Check in was quick and easy, very friendly. We realized a few hours after checking out that we forgot to empty the safe. We called and by the time we got back to the hotel all items we waiting for us. Thank you!! Hotel is located right across the street from the Metro red line and within easy walking to all kinds of restaurants. National Zoo is only .25 miles away. We would definitely stay there again.

Good location, old building

Location was great. You can walk to a bunch of restaurants and shops. Doors are really thin, so you can hear all of the noise in the halls. We asked to switch rooms but were told they overbooked the hotel. Overall pretty average, good for people who don't really care much about where they stay, but the noise could be a problem if there's a big event at the hotel during your stay as there was during ours.

Top Notch

This hotel primarily hosts conventions. It is so huge you will surely get lost. Self Parking cost $34 per day which I though was high. Metro station was steps away which was key for us. Very nice large room. No free wi-fi or breakfast.

Wonderful place to stay

I have stayed in many hotels in the last several years and this was definitely the best! The room was large and the service was excellent. A word about the location. It was excellent for me, as there was a subway entrance located at one corner of the hotel. Also, within a block of the hotel grounds were several good restaurants, most with outside seating, of various cuisines, including American, Indian, Indian organic, Italian, Japanese, Mediterranean, Mexican, and Pizza. There was also within a block the ubiquitous McDonalds with its free wifi, which is the only amenity the hotel did not provide. They had wifi, but it was advertised as something I had to pay for, so I did not test it. The room also did not include a microwave or refrigerator, but I consider those items pretty superfluous in a hotel. The National Zoo was only about three or four blocks away. The staff, from the maids to the personnel at the front desk were the most helpful and friendly of any place I have stayed. I will try to return here on my next trip to DC.

Good, but the extras are expensive.

Pros: Spacious hotel with nice décor. Rooms just what you would expect from Marriott - clean, well-appointed, nice view, and have everything you need. Nice to have the option of an outdoor pool. Cons: Staff other than those at the front desk were not particularly polite or helpful. Good value for the room but watch out for the extras as they can add up: parking = $36/day, 2 burgers and 4 alcoholic beverages at Harry's, their casual pub = $80.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

We went for brunch around the corner at the Irish pub which was better value and included a glass of champagne/mimosa for $9 each, though service was slow so don't go if you're in a hurry.
