Wonderful place to stay

I have stayed in many hotels in the last several years and this was definitely the best! The room was large and the service was excellent. A word about the location. It was excellent for me, as there was a subway entrance located at one corner of the hotel. Also, within a block of the hotel grounds were several good restaurants, most with outside seating, of various cuisines, including American, Indian, Indian organic, Italian, Japanese, Mediterranean, Mexican, and Pizza. There was also within a block the ubiquitous McDonalds with its free wifi, which is the only amenity the hotel did not provide. They had wifi, but it was advertised as something I had to pay for, so I did not test it. The room also did not include a microwave or refrigerator, but I consider those items pretty superfluous in a hotel. The National Zoo was only about three or four blocks away. The staff, from the maids to the personnel at the front desk were the most helpful and friendly of any place I have stayed. I will try to return here on my next trip to DC.

Unbeatable location for the price

My daughter, granddaughter and I had a fantastic time at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel. We swam in the pool for three hours and really enjoyed the water. The housekeeping was impeccable. Overall, we received great value for our travel dollar.

on a hill

This was a great hotel. The services were very good. I will only warn you that the hotel sits on a hill from the metro so if u r using public transportation u will be in for some walks up and down the hill. Also the zoo is not directly across the street it is a few blocks up another hill. Overall a great place to stay.

Great hotel, a bit pricey

Stayed 3 days at the hotel. Had no problems, but in this day and age paying extra for internet at a 4 star hotel is quite a bit ridiculous. While the restaurant at the hotel was expensive and not that great, the indian place next door was excellent. Overall, a good experience, if not for the nickel and diming.

Our four nights of sophistication

Our hotel stay was average -this hotel is more suitable for conventions -very expensive-charged $33 for parking-not aware of the cost until we arrived at hotel. First night we could not sleep because of the noise level in the room next to us. The noise went on to 4:30 in the morning. The walls are very thin we could hear people coming and going all three nights My 91 year old mother was ill and the noise did not help. In the guest book it mentioned that we could call the front desk if we need a Doctor, upon calling we were told to call 911 this was not what I read in guest book. 5 minutes later We were also contacted by two security people advising if we needed an ambulance. I stated that my mother was not that ill and that I needed to find a medical doctor that would treat her. They wanted me to take her to hospital-not what we wanted. We have been on other trips to DC but this one takes the cake.....

Nice hotel, with a little noise

Combo business/tourist travel. Pool beautiful but too crowded to use, all three days we were there. Room very nice; hotel works hard to help with noise, with signs by the elevator about "whispering," but apparently guests don't take this seriously. Interestingly the midweek was the worst, noise-wise. The Friday night was pleasantly quiet! A nice place, all in all. Bell Captain was the only weak link: surly.

Problems with Customer Service

I was originally booked at the Marriott at Wardman Park in Washington. I was transferred to another hotel without prior notification. So, I signed in at the desk, to be told that the hotel was sold out for the Debate Event. My discomfort was that fact that the hotel clerk did not make any amends for this inconvenience but just told me that they also had to make other arrangement for 30 other guests. That was not my problem!!!! I had traveled from Atlanta, Georgia to see my son participate in the National Debate Competition and was told that I had to move to another hotel. This was my first time in Washington D.C and I was not comfortable traveling by metro and moving around in Washington. They at first told me to get on the Metro to go to the other hotel. Finally, I asked to speak with the hotel's manager and I could see that she was overwhelmed by this situation. But, she did apologize and offered me a free night at the hotel. Then I was told that there was a shuttle to the other hotel and I waited for over an hour and it never came. So, my experince from the start with this hotel was horrible with regards to customer service recovery.

Terrific value, great location

The hotel is enormous, geared for conventions, but the room was well done and the service was great. The overnight parking fee ($33) was a little steep but the overall value was excellent. I would be happy to go there again on our next trip to D.C.

Not as good as described

I thought the WiFi in the conference room could have been free. I was there with the ASBS and 12.00 more to use the WiFi I think was excessive. For $300 a night I thought the room could have been nicer, larger and have hotel information available in the room. The Service and the People were excellent!!
