Memorial Day 2010 was great!

The staff were very helpful in planning our activities for the holiday weekend. We went to a rehearsal concert for Memorial Day at the request of one of the employees. She even loaned us her own personal blanket for the grounds. The night tour of the Monuments were a great suggestion along with some wonderful restaurant suggestions. WE had a great visit and well planned trip THANK YOU WESTIN AND STAFF! The location, the room, the staff were 4 stars. WE would highly recomend everyone to go to the Grand Westin

Great location

We enjoyed staying at this hotel. The room itself is not small but some of the furniture items take too much space. Parking costs $28.

Wonderful hotel but WHAT IS THAT SMELL??

I arrived on Thanksgiving day, the area was basically deserted because of the holiday, however the helpful staff recommended a small cafe located across the street from the hotel. Fantastic deli sandwiches. The room was nice but had an aweful musty stench that seemed to be relentless. I didnt complain, thinking it would go away, the bed is SOOOO comfortable, clean white sheets, soft pillows, safe in the room, flat screen tv with lots of cable channels..the deep tub was soothing, spa lit mirror,, round the clock taxi service and best of all EXTREMELY FRIENDLY PLEASANT STAFF, i have stayed at hotels where the staff reminded me of correction officers, not at this hotel, they are the total opposite, opening doors regularly, greeting with a genuine smile and quick to solve problems. The bar also makes a mean peach mojito! Walking distance to the White house, Georgetown, and Ben's chili Bowl! Dupont Circle is in walking distance also and is fun on weekend nights..

Good location, decent service

This was our first visit to DC and this hotel is in a good spot for tourism, as we managed to walk to all major tourist spots (Lincoln Memorial, Washington Memorial, White House, all Smithsonians). There are also a few restaurants and coffee shops nearby. The room wasn't completely spotless, but it was pretty big and comfortable.

You can do better

The hotel itself seems more like a serviced apartment that a hotel. Until the day we checked out we didn't even know there was a bar, and there is no cafe or regular restaurant. For the price I'm sure you can do better. Free extras that you get used to in the most basic B&B such as Wi-Fi are not available at the Westin, there is Wi-Fi but for $10 a day. No in-room fridge and the mini bar is more like a vending machine and contains basic items at absurd prices. Noisy air-con and smells of disinfectant were off-putting. If you are in Washington as a tourist, without a car, and likely to be visiting museums and monuments this location is not great. Georgetown is close by but has nothing that downtown does not have. Our short review would read; overpriced and in the wrong location for a tourist visit.
