They were very friendly. Their location is great except it is in the business district, so nothing is open on the weekend

Great location and amenities in DC

Our family of 4 visited DC in April 2011 and found the River Inn a perfect fit for our week long stay. Since it had a kitchenette, we were able to buy and make several meals, saving money for other activities. Just East of the Inn on I street was the Foggy Bottom Metro stop which let us travel quickly and conveniently to the Zoo, Smithsonian museums, the Mall and more. We also enjoyed two Thai restaurants on Pennsylvania Avenue just north of the Inn. GWU has a handy food court on campus, there is the Cone E Istalnd ice cream shop near GWU on I and a farmer's market on I near GWU on Wednesdays too. Several Starbucks are also in the neighborhood. The hop on / hop off tour busses which travel to the Mall stop right at the One Washington Circle Hotel just Northeast of the Inn as well. However, most everything is easily accessible via the Metro stop in Foggy Bottom. We loved the River Inn and will stay there again when visiting DC.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

be sure to stop at Trader Joe's a bit north of the River Inn and the Safeway south in the Watergate Hotel lower level for shopping needs. We picked up groceries for our family the very first day and it saved us money our entire week. There is also a 7-Eleven around the corner off I street for convenience foods.

Great Value

It exceeded my expectations for what we paid for it. The location is great, the staff helpful, the room clean and the amenities fantastic. Totally wasn't expecting to have a kitchen and living room included in the price of $130!

Great Location

This is a great little hotel similar to a European Boutique type hotel. Located 2 blocks from the Metro in a quiet neighborhood near GW University. We walked to Washington Harbour near Georgtown for dinner. Took the Metro eveywhere to the Museums and Library of Congress. Our car was parked on the premises and they brought it around for us on Sunday to drive to church at the National Cathedral.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

I would buy the day pass again for the Metro. It is a short walk to the station and you can get all over town

Neighborhood Gem

The place was located in a treelined neighborhood of residents, homeowners, and students. The staff was friendly and helpful. Quiet with very easy access to the Metro, Rock Creek, Whole Foods and everyother place one could go in DC. Many restaurants within walking distance.

Suprisingly gratifying stay

Having gone over for only a couple of days the River Inn provided an extremely relaxing and comfortable place to get back to. Big room, elegant and useful appurtenances, restful environment and close proximity to train stations and ammenities. I plan to return to take advantage of their low rate weekend packages. In any case well worth every penny paid.

Decent Price - Expensive Parking

Only stayed here for one night - the hotel was comfortable, but the parking was somewhere in the range of $40/night. There is street parking around the hotel, but it requires a permit during the week.
