The Quincy

HORRIBLE experience. My room overlooked garbage (literally). At 5:30 a.m. the garbage trucks came and clanked and made a racket right outside my window. The lobby had a torn painting and was tacky. NO room service in the morning, and at night it is from an Irish pub next door. Cheap TV from the 80s. No in-room movies.

Hotel itself is fine - quick service, cheap, free internet, fantastic location for me. The problem is, if you're in one of the north rooms overlooking the back alley, it can be VERY noisy. There are multiple dumpsters and delivery platforms back there and apparently garbage pickup day is Wednesday morning, 4:30 AM. The cavernous building walls around this alley create an excellent echo chamber. I might have been OK with that, but in this case the business next door was rehabbing and decided to fill 3 dumpsters in succession with drywall and metal framing rubbish - starting at 3 AM!! Bring earplugs and you'll be fine I guess. This dynamic is fairly common with downtown DC's small/indy hotels, I've found. But you can't beat the location/price if you have business near 18th and K/L (except for perhaps the Lombardy, which is an Experience for sure).

The staff was uniformly friendly. The room was well-appointed and very clean. The A/C control was old and so not easy to regulate. The key problem is that I was assigned to a room on the 3rd floor in the back. I was awoken in the middle of the night by trucks in the loading bay behind the hotel (servicing a series of office buildings) and starting at 5:30 a.m. there was a steady procession of garbage trucks picking up a large number of containers. There was no way you could sleep from 5:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. They were in and out almost non-stop. Don't let them put you on the 3rd floor in the back or you'll be at the same level as this loading area and I guarantee you won't be able to sleep!

Location is right in DC downtown, easy walk to White House, dining and Farragut West & East Metro. Hotel room is large and has microwave & refer. Average room, but very comfy bed! For downtown DC a good value for location. Close to high end hotels. I was on street side, so had big city street noise...but I had earplugs so slept great, and 5 min walk to Metro stops & dining close by.

If you need to get a place to sleep, it's a good option.

The Quincy has an excellent location for business on K street. However, you want to avoid rooms on the street side as they are poorly insulated from street noise.

Modern feel with spacious rooms. Good location with a lot of restaurants in the area. The movie system was not working when I was there and they city started road construction at 4:00 a.m. Other than that I would recommend staying there.

My daughter and I visited because of a job interview, and we were very happy with The Quincy Hotel. The location and the staff were wonderful. The room was clean and pleasant and we look forward to returning to Washington and will be happy to return to the Quincy.

Hotel and room was great. The front desk service is exceptional. Great location and easy access to all the attractions. Only downside was room was pretty noisy at night. The room was on the backside of building in an alleyway, lot of early morning deliveries. If you stay in the front of the building you probably wouldn't have this problem. Overall I would highly recommend.
