Melrose Hotel Washington, DC

Older hotel, noisy. Rooms need to be painted and new carpet on floors. Climate control outdated only heat available during March visit, rooms can be hot and only way to cool room is to open a window.

Disappointing stay!

Staff could not find our reservation when we got there. They finally found it after about 30 minutes of searching which was a bit disgruntling. The bathroom was not clean. Towels were dirty and bathtub did not drain. This is not a hotel I will consider staying in again in Georgetown. On a positive note, the valet staff was very friendly and helpful!. Not a good example for the Melrose hotels that are usually first class.

Would recommend, but construction underway

Part of the hotel is being renovated and the workmen start at 7:00AM. You can hear them slaming doors and echos throughout the building. After the first night, we requested a new room further away from the chaos. The frontdesk staff were very nice, but they should have been more proactive from the start of our stay. In addition, I found the restaurant to be very expensive the the wait staff to be very disengaged. That said, I would return to The Melrose Hotel once the renovation is complete. It is nice, clean, well located and comfortable.

Friendly and helpful staff, great value

Visited DC on school break with wife, daughter and mother. Took 2 rooms. Had late check-in (11pm), clerk went to great lengths to get us 2 nice rooms close to each other. 7th floor king deluxe room was specially and surprisingly nice, especially at the price. Doorman was helpful throughout our visit. Buffet breakfast (not included in our booking) was good, service ok. Had dinner at Library restaurant both nights - food and service were good. I found management to be very interested and responsive. Comment made at dinner on first night was immediately acted on by the time that we returned for dinner the second night. Desk manager was very helpful with earlier than reserved checkout. We will stay here when we return to DC.

Very Nice- Staff very friendly

We went to Washington DC to visit the Cherry Blossom festival and downtown exhibits. Metro rail right around the corner so we gave the car to valet for parking. With Metros easy access to sights of DC we had fun. Staff was very friendly and helpful giving information and recommendations. Room was very clean and though we were on a major street we did not hear a sound from traffic. We would recommend this hotel and will go back. Only problem was getting our car back from valet parking took close to 45 minutes when we checked out and we could not find many small kid friendly restaurants nearby(within short walking distance). There was a restaurant and nice small pub-like bar within the hotel. Usual food and looked very nice and good but we wanted to eat out of the hotel.

Nice Place, close to Metro

Nice place, close to Metro and many restaurants and George Washington University. The pillows were not the best but the room was comfortable otherwise. [...] advertised free parking on the weekends however the hotel only has valet parking which was $38 for the night.

Great Stay @ Melrose

This was our second stay at the Melrose. They've made quite a few updates since last year. Great location in Foggy Bottom. Just a short walk to Georgetown. 5 minutes to the Metro. Nice rooms, even nicer staff, good price. What's not to like?

Very family friendly

The Melrose in D.C. was very upscale, had a very spacious and nicely furnished room. It was very clean. There was a seperate area for the desk and a seperate vanity from the main bathroom. Most of the hotel staff was very friendly. Actually getting information about our reservation from the hotel was extremely difficult though. Communication leave a lot to be desired. In this process, several employees of the hotel were very unfriendly and not helpful. Overall though, the stay was pleasant. The valet staff was extremely nice and one hotel employee made our stay very pleasant (he went out of his way). The locaion was very close to a great deal of attrations, we could walk to Georgtown and the metro easily. The Smithsonian, Washington Monument (the mall) etc. was a little further, but can be walked. Keep in mind that parking is extra around these areas, your vehicle is parked in a garage overnite (around 40.00).
