Very nice room. Ours was somewhat
Very nice room. Ours was somewhat oversized with multiple closets and a a spearate alcove with a desk in it. It also had a couch and small fridge. Location was excellent with easy access to Georgetown and Metro system. We did not have or need a car while there. I would definitely stay here again.

Good for business travel
The Melrose Hotel has a good location. I felt safe in the neighborhood. There is a public library across the street. Good food blocks away from there but there is a convenience store on one side and a Catholic church on the other. The room was very nice, clean, neat, well decorated and the hotel in general is very well maintained. Everything was functioning properly. There was a desk and a chair, other two chairs, the bathroom was separate from the vanity area and sink with a long counter. The closet had a good size for hanging clothes and they provided two suitcase stands. The staff is corteous and helpful. I have no complaints.

Very family friendly
The Melrose in D.C. was very upscale, had a very spacious and nicely furnished room. It was very clean. There was a seperate area for the desk and a seperate vanity from the main bathroom. Most of the hotel staff was very friendly. Actually getting information about our reservation from the hotel was extremely difficult though. Communication leave a lot to be desired. In this process, several employees of the hotel were very unfriendly and not helpful. Overall though, the stay was pleasant. The valet staff was extremely nice and one hotel employee made our stay very pleasant (he went out of his way). The locaion was very close to a great deal of attrations, we could walk to Georgtown and the metro easily. The Smithsonian, Washington Monument (the mall) etc. was a little further, but can be walked. Keep in mind that parking is extra around these areas, your vehicle is parked in a garage overnite (around 40.00).

Perfect
The room was very large for a city hotel. Large king size bed was very comfortable. Room was very clean and smelled fresh. Separate desk area with a small refrigerater is a nice touch. Location was perfect as we were picking up our daughter at George Washington University for a break.

Our favorite
This is our second stay at the Melrose for Christmas, and it was as good as last year. We are not high-end hotel people, but we like a nice environment, pleasant staff, attractive bright rooms and good location. The Melrose is a good fit for us. While we didn't have many meals there, we did have the breakfast buffet (at 8 a.m.) on Christmas morning. Although it was $19.00/person (we're not cheap we just don't eat that much food for breakfast, and we were planning to have a Christmas brunch at 1p.m.) it was lovely and a great selection. This hotel is our favorite, and we wouldn't stay anywhere else while in Washington, DC.

Take the metro. I think you can get almost anywhere even with transfers. The buses are a little confusing (if you're going by Google via public transportation). It's clean and the station attendants are very helpful.
