The prestigious Mayflower Renaissance Washington, DC Hotel began as the setting for the Presidential Inaugural Ball for Calvin Coolidge upon opening in 1925. The smart neoclassical building matches the quality of the lavishly appointed interior, complete with plush furnishings, chandeliers and murals by New Deal era artist Edward Laning. Renovated in 2011, The Mayflower Renaissance Washington, DC Hotel now boasts a retail emporium including upscale English clothing boutique Thomas Pink and a choice of venues for dining or sipping an elegant martini.

great location, easy access to metro. Wish they wouldn't let people stand in front of the hotel outside and smoke. You have to walk by them to enter hotel. Big rooms

disappointed

Mayflower is a great historical building that desperately needs some updating. The entrance and lobby area is grand, however, the rooms smell of cheap cleaning products which we had to air out for hours. The furnitures are all worn and outdated. Sadly, the rooms are a dump. The only good thing about the hotel is the location and the comfort of the bed. Also, the staff other than those at the front desk are all grumpy! I've stayed at the Mayflower several years back, but it has downgraded big time. I would only give this hotel 3 stars at the most.

fun trip

Very good stay, the only complaint is that the drain in the shower was very slow, the tub filled up to ankle deep every time we took a shower.

An old hotel in fairly good location

Pros: good location, right off metro station. Fair price for the value. Cons: don't ever try to rent a car for your trip. Parking is expensive, street parking is almost impossible over night. Metro is very convenient, don't bother with a car. Room is decent size, but it's an older hotel, it's hard to not notice. Shower has small stream of water. Hot water is not stable - during 9-10pm you may not even get enough hot water coming out of your shower. Oh, did I mention there is no water provided, and there is no venting machine. So if you want to have a bottle of water or any soft drink after 10, good luck! The closest Seven Eleven is 2 and half blocks away! Tip: you maybe score some free bottle water in the hotel gym.

Thanksgiving week getaway

Received wonderful deal on hotel and airfare via This web site. Saw old friends for Thanksgiving. Used other days to tour DC museums. Arrived several hours before check in time on Tuesday before the holiday. It was rainy and cold in DC and I was hoping that my wife and I could get into the room early. Hotel desk staff seemed to understand that and assigned us a wonderful room. Room was clean with plenty of towels. Bed was very comfortable and there were lots of packets of free in room coffee. It was my second time staying at this hotel and stay was even better this time. Hotel is half a block from a Metro stop so traveling locally to museums was easy. Can't wait to stay here again in the future.

The French restaurant, Bistro du Coin, is two blocks north of the DuPont Circle metro stop. A must visit for dinner in DC. Six blocks north of the hotel at 1728 Connecticutt.

great location in a beautiful historic hotel

We just stayed 5 nights at the Mayflower and had a wonderful time. The building is beautiful and rooms very clean and roomy. On arrival we were upgraded to a suite for no charge. It is a large hotel, so there was a lot of walking to and from the room, but I am sure we could have requested a location closer to the elevators. Location is great, near two metro stations so very easy to get around.
