Neoclassical splendor in refined capital setting

The prestigious Mayflower Renaissance Washington, DC Hotel began as the setting for the Presidential Inaugural Ball for Calvin Coolidge upon opening in 1925. The smart neoclassical building matches the quality of the lavishly appointed interior, complete with plush furnishings, chandeliers and murals by New Deal era artist Edward Laning. Renovated in 2011, The Mayflower Renaissance Washington, DC Hotel now boasts a retail emporium including upscale English clothing boutique Thomas Pink and a choice of venues for dining or sipping an elegant martini.

Very nice hotel

The hotel was very nice and the brunch was delicious. The metro stop was just at the end of the block which was very convenient for getting back and forth to my meetings and sight-seeing. The beds were clean and comfortable, although the chairs in the room were a little stained and worn out. The water pressure was also a little lacking (for the shower and toilet), but that may have been because we were on the top floor. Overall, I would stay there again.

Mayflower Hotel Review

MY experience couldn't have been any better. As a first time visitor to D.C. I often asked a lot of questions about where to eat and how to use the Metro, etc. The staff was terribly helpful and polite. The room was so luxurious. I often found it hard to leave bed in order to do tourist-y things!

Beautiful, historical hotel

We were tourists and saw almost everything that we wanted to see in two days. The hotel was right in the middle of everything and we walked to dinner at three different restaurants on three nights. We used the trolleys which picked you up right in front of the hotel. The hotel is gorgeous. The rooms are very small, but comfortable. The window looked out on the other side of the building, so no views.....

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

I would have enjoyed a listing of restaurants near the hotel - menus, addresses, recommendations, etc. - in the room. There are plenty of drawers that could hold a notebook with menus along with bibles.

A great old hotel

The concierge, [...], is the most helpful concierge I've ever met. She took care of our every need with a smile, remembered our names, and was just generally delightful. My only complaints, are mino: there is no room delivery of the newspapers on Saturday and Sunday; the lobby cocktail waitress was alone and overwhelmed on a rainy Saturday, so service was very slow, and the icebuckets in the room were without liners and the water never emptied. But it was a very large, very quiet and clean room, and in all, the experience was delightful.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Go to the Capitol Grill for old fashioned ambience and great steak, or try The Blue Duck for unusual high-end fare.

Best Luxury hotel

The location of the hotel was the best part of all. There is a metro station half a block from the hotel. The hotel was 4 blocks away from the white house.

Nice hotel, great location. Close to Metro station and a short walk to Dupont and Logan Circle neighborhoods. Friendly staff. Only downside - no wireless in the rooms and a very short cord.
