Neoclassical splendor in refined capital setting

The prestigious Mayflower Renaissance Washington, DC Hotel began as the setting for the Presidential Inaugural Ball for Calvin Coolidge upon opening in 1925. The smart neoclassical building matches the quality of the lavishly appointed interior, complete with plush furnishings, chandeliers and murals by New Deal era artist Edward Laning. Renovated in 2011, The Mayflower Renaissance Washington, DC Hotel now boasts a retail emporium including upscale English clothing boutique Thomas Pink and a choice of venues for dining or sipping an elegant martini.

False Advertising

The room was clean and hotel lobby grand. HOWEVER, when I booked this hotel, Orbitz advertised the Renassaince Hotel chain had a deal with Amercian Express providing the guest a 20% discount at checkin if they used their AMEX card. WRONG! Discount not given if you book through Orbitz. Please remove from website.

Great location, hotel services not great

I was there for a convention. The location was great because it was within walking distance to the convention center and the national mall. The hotel room was adequate, but it did not have coffeemaker services in the room and the shampoo and conditioner was not replaced while I was there. Additionally, the newspaper was only delivered one day. Finally, there was no wifi services unless there was a fee. The aura of the hotel was great and I liked the history. Oh, and the water they supplied as you entered the building was great. .filled with fruit.

The location was a short walk to the White House and the National Mall, and it was not an expensive taxi ride or metro ride to the Georgetown eateries.

Nice place

The hotel was nice. It was over booked when we checked in. Traveled with three kids and my wife. They gave us two rooms with king beds to accommodate us would of been nicer if they gave us a two bedroom suit that was empty just down the hall

Nice Hotel / Good Location

Nice centrally located hotel on the metro line - lots of Washington sites visited without any need for a taxi. Clean and Friendly.

Lots of high end eateries and sub shops. Not much of a middle ground for dining options within a walking distance. Again - key to have the metro as many fine choices are within a stop or two.
