Neoclassical splendor in refined capital setting
The prestigious Mayflower Renaissance Washington, DC Hotel began as the setting for the Presidential Inaugural Ball for Calvin Coolidge upon opening in 1925. Renovated in 2011, The Mayflower Renaissance Washington, DC Hotel now boasts a retail emporium including upscale English clothing boutique Thomas Pink and a choice of venues for dining or sipping an elegant martini.

Thanksgiving idyll
We had a supremely agreeable two-night stay at this conveniently located hotel in Washington while visiting family for Thanksgiving. We walked easily to any typ e of coffee shop or restaurant, to the metro, to several of our favorite stores and landmarks, and the metro took us speedily to others. Service was very good. Parking could have been costly, but not on the holiday. Only downside--internet access in the room was not free, but this was a minor inconvenience.

great stay in great location
We checked in very late and didn't get the bed arrangement that we had requested. The following day they upgraded us (at no extra charge) to a very spacious executive double. Hotel is conveniently located 1 block from Metro. Concierge made some wonderful restaurant recommendation. Staff was very friendly; nice breakfast buffet; charming older hotel.

Confirm, confirm, confirm!
We appreciated the convenience to the Metro and DuPont Circle. We were actually close enough to walk to the White House and Mall area, and found many great restaurants nearby. We asked for a king size bed, and the add described the rooms having a living space. However, we were offered a queen or two doubles and told that even though we called the hotel to confirm a king size bed, the hotel doesn't actually offer confirmations. Apparently, you have to get a confirmation of the type of room you want in writing and bring it with you to the front desk upon registering. We were able to work it out, but it took two days and two conversations with the manager. Oh, and I think "living space" includes a desk and chair. The hotel is nice, safe, pretty clean and has ammenities that you would expect. The location is great -- you can't beat it. We're not sure we would pick this hotel if we were travelling with kids -- you need more room in the room and definitely a pool!!!

Beautiful historic lady
We were met immediately at our car. Luggage was retrieved. We were taken to our room promptly and we had a lovely overnight stay. Dinner in the Promenade Cafe was delicious (Maryland crab cakes, soup, salad) Service was attentive and friendly. Continental breakfast and lunch were more than satisfactory. Throughout the stay we were very satisfied. Room was clean, bed very comfy. Only negatives were no tissue box anywhere in the smaller than usual bedroom.

Perfect
I went to DC for the Memorial Day Weekend. I have been in a few, the same class hotels in DC before and have to admit that this one is the best so far. The room was very clean and big enough, bathroom absolutely amazing, big, new and really nice. The AC was a bit loud but I saw worse in different hotels. The only thing I didn't like was that on the street where our room's window was located was a club and I could hear the music until 2am. Try to pick a room on higher floor, mine was on second, and I believe that would help with the noise. Besides that everything was perfect. Will definitely come back there!

unbeatable location for the price
The Mayflower Renisiannce was in a great location with museums, attractions, shopping and restaurants within walking distance. The hotel was very welcoming and elegant. There was a beautiful breakfast buffet. We had an issue with the hotel security. We had to call them on 3 occassions one night when some drunken guests were being very loud and disruptive at 3:45 a.m. Management was apologetic in the morning, but we had never experienced anything like this in such an elegant hotel.

Washington DC Family Trip
I called the hotel after making the Orbitz reservation because I was travelling with children and wanted to request a two doubles. However when we got there they did not have my request and they said they were booked and only one queen bed and that they would bring a cot up. The front desk seemed nonchalant and said that there was nothing they could do. The room they put us in barely fit our luggage let alone a cot. Our bellhop went down with us and we spoke to the front desk and we finally got the room we booked. I mean it almost seemed like they wanted to renege on the deal we got through Orbitz which was not cool at all.

Others attending the same conference booked though the hotel at a special conference rate - which was significantly higher than we paid through Orbitz. The service was excellent. Check in and check out was flawless and took less than a minute.
