Neoclassical splendor in refined capital setting
The prestigious Mayflower Renaissance Washington, DC Hotel began as the setting for the Presidential Inaugural Ball for Calvin Coolidge upon opening in 1925. The smart neoclassical building matches the quality of the lavishly appointed interior, complete with plush furnishings, chandeliers and murals by New Deal era artist Edward Laning. Renovated in 2011, The Mayflower Renaissance Washington, DC Hotel now boasts a retail emporium including upscale English clothing boutique Thomas Pink and a choice of venues for dining or sipping an elegant martini.

The Mayflower is an old hotel in an extraordinary location, for business or leisure. Service was good even though not great, however room cleanliness was remarkable. Would recommend.

Not Applicable
Don't try to do everything in one day. Devote plenty of time to touring the memorials, monuments etc. Also, look into other tours available in the city as well as festivals and special events.

change bar staff
First floor lobby bar was terrible --all 4 nights. Staff was SLOW, very confused about orders., unfriendly. Mezz Lounge was excellent, staff friendly and responsive. Friends from other hotel impressed. Front Desk, Bell folks and Concierge were fantastic.

Washington's second best address
Harry Truman labled the Mayflower "Washington's second best address," and it is truly elegant. My room was small but plush. For the very reasonable price I paid, the room was excellent. The lobby is old school elegant rather than flashy, and there is ample fine shopping nearby. The hotel is timeless; I am sure it looks pretty much as it did 50 or 60 years ago.

Short walk from hotel
The hotel has a fitness Center but if you belong to a gym called NY Sports Club, Boston Sports Club or Philadelphia Sports Club, two blocks away there is a Washington Sports Club (WSC) you can use with your passport membership. Brooks Brothers, Godiva Chocolate and other fine stores are nearby.

Great location in DC
This is a great hotel and location in DC. The staff is great and easy access to Metro. The elevators were never crowded and you never had to wait on one. The only bad thing we experienced was a toilet overflow but the staff came immediately and fixed it - no more problems.

Excellent Hotel but dated
The Mayflower was an excellent hotel. The staff was attentive and very friendly. The room was clean and in excellent condition but a bit dated. I will warn you that the bar is incredibly overpriced. I would definitely stay here again for my next trip to Washington.

High expectation
I thought it is this hotel was part of history so it must be great since U.S. presidents stayed here. (It by walking is 11 minutes away from the White House) The shower easily clogged and it does not have the best view. However, the staff are polite so it saved by rating low. Location is good because you are near many stores, restaurants, and subway station.
