Traditional style blended with modern twists and Bistro Bis

The George, a Kimpton Hotel, built in the boom era of 1928, shares a similar background to several other Washington D.C. luxury hotels. As such, George Hotel embodies classic style, in keeping with the prestigious surrounds of its Capitol Hill location. The atmosphere is chic and modern. Guests get a fully comprehensive luxury experience, and can sample some of Capitol Hill's finest dining at the affiliate restaurant Bistro Bis, offering the highest quality French cuisine with the convenience of onsite dining. Pets are welcome, a relatively unusual feature and a very welcome addition for more local travelers.

3 Reasons to Stay:
  • Capitol Hill location gives easy access to most of the popular Washington D.C. monuments and landmarks

  • High quality French dining on site with affiliate restaurant Bistro Bis

  • Bold designs bring the 1928 hotel completely up to date

EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE

Perfect location, clean, neat, AMAZING customer service. Shout out to Patrick Donovan at the front desk. He made my stay in DC that much better. I will definitely stay at The Hotel George again soon! The only downside is that one of the two elevators was out of service due to repairs. Other than that, a pleasant experience.

Really (not only) dog friendly hotel

You probably know how hard it is to find a hotel that accepts dogs... but you probably have no idea how impossible it is to find a hotel which would accept an Irish Wolfhound (over 120 pounds...). Hotel George not only invited our dog to stay for no extra charge - they also gave us a bowl, a ball, some treats and directions to nearest dog parks! Apart from that - the hotel is clean and nice. There was no dog smell in the room. The staff was very friendly. And the location - couldn't be better!

Weekend trip to DC

This hotel is located just a block or two from Union Station, which makes it perfect if you're arriving in DC via Amtrak, Megabus, or some other transportation of that sort. It is located within walking distance of Capitol Hill. There's not too much in the way of dining around the hotel, but if you walk just a few blocks and get near Chinatown, that's when you will find more dining options than you will know what to do with. There's also lots of places to choose from to eat at in Union Station. Being within walking distance of Chinatown also means you are close to the Verizon Center, where the NHL and NBA play, and concerts are held. The hotel is also within walking distance of the White House, the monuments and the museums, but it's a further hike to all these things from the hotel than to Capitol Hill. It's doable, but wear comfortable shoes. That said, the hotel is near bus and metro lines, so you're good. We were there for a concert and sight-seeing, so being near the Verizon Center, Capitol Hill, and the White House area was perfect. Wifi in the room is not complimentary, unless you're a rewards member. That's disappointing. 24/7 gym is complimentary. In-house restaurant is pricey, though maybe not for the area. Check-in/check-out was easy. Room was very comfortable. Would've been nice to have had a DVD player in the room. All in all, I would definitely recommend this hotel to you, if you're looking for a hotel close to all the big DC sights. It was a great deal for us and we will be back.

Pretty good hotel

Went during last weekend of Cherry Blossom Festival. Hotel staff was very accomodating and friendly. Room was smaller than I thought it would be. That being said, it was very clean and nice. The comment of "Noisy" had to do more with the air conditioner system than the noise outside of the room or hotel. Overall a great place due to its proximity from the train station.

Dr. Leonard Johnson

I like the wine event each evening. The gym at this one and the Philly one (I was there last week) are not great. The TV monitors often don't work on the equipment, the one in PHilly was hot and had no ventilation, the one in DC was cold.

Great location, good value

Only disappointment was that I booked a room with 2 queen beds, but upon arrival they only had a room with 1 king bed -- so the staff arranged for a rollaway bed instead.

Excellent boutique hotel, highly recommend

Fantastic stay, the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Particularly enjoyed "wine hour" - free wine every afternoon from 5-6pm! Also, free bike rental, truly excellent way to see the city sites.

Great Hotel for anyone

From the moment I arrived at The George (a Kimpton Hotel, as you know), I was very impressed. The entire staff, from Bellman to Concierge, were very attentive and anxious to please. The room was wonderful, i.e., large with two queen beds, a lounge chair, ottoman, a desk w/chair, and a vast amount of closet and drawer space. Additionally, the large flat screen tv was behind the closet doors across the side of the room. I love the design of this space. The location of The George was perfect; three blocks from The Capitol, 1-1/2 blocks from Union Station, and there were ample taxis when needed. If I return to D.C., I hope a room is available. Kimpton Hotels have always had a good reputation; I highly recommend it to anyone, business, family, or just to get-away.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

The dining at The George is excellent and convenient. Also, at Union Station, there are many places serving various foods, Two blocks the other way is Starbucks, which is a nice stop for a coffee, frappacino or similar. I imagine there are other places to dine, but with the above listed, I looked no further.

Fantastic!

I just came back from my trip to DC. I stayed at the George Hotel, it was wonderful! Everyone was so nice and helpful! The location was fantastic! Quick walk to Union Station where there are resturants, shops and all the site seeing tour booths. Great view of Capitol Hill and a quick walk to the museums. It was a fun, relaxing vacation. The Hotel George is one I will surely visit for years to come!
