Embassy Row Hotel, DC
This is big bang for the buck and, given the location, you really can't beat it. Plus, it's quiet. unlike hotels on the other side of the Circle.

Unhappy experience
Staff was not that bright. My room phone was not working... it would ring and when I answered it nobody was there. The night manager Ales Rodisiki ( sp? ) told me it was another guest in the hotel ( it wasn't ). Tried to use a pay phone... there was signage for one but no phones! When I asked at the front desk why there was still a sign up for one I got no answer PERIOD. Just was stared at as if I was from Mars. When I asked where the nearest pay phone was I was told "Outside". No, it was two blocks away and in the Metro station where I'd have to pay to enter! ll night I could hear hall noises in my room... people talking or the slamming of doors. I paid a lot of money for a terrible evening... I will NOT use this hotel again!

Just an ok time
Hotel is starting to show it's age a bit. The white trim on doors, etc. is dirty or peeling. There were beds in the hallway outside my room. Some of the guests were quite rude and intimidating on the elevator. The room was ok. It has some newer features and a great view. The hotel could use some updating.

What can I say....this place was great! Perfect location, wonderful staff, clean rooms, and even free ice cold water during the heart wave. The pool was lovely as was the breakfast. When visiting Dupont Circle....this is the place to stay!

Great place to stay, Dupont Circle and Metro nearby
My late check in was a little confused due to an online travel company notification problem of a canceled night, but the hotel staff accommodated us with the only room they had left a smoking room. The next day the staff moved our luggage to a non-smoking King room, an upgrade as I only had paid for a Queen room. Once this problem was fixed the desk staff remembered my name and went out of their way to be helpful. The continental breakfast was the usual but there was always one or two staff members around to help or clean up. The shops and restaurants of Dupont Circle and 17th Street are less than a 5 minute walk and the Metro to the museums, monuments etc. is one block away. I would definitely stay here again.
