Good price and good location
For the price we paid, it was perfect. The building is old and the room was small, but the location is excellent and the price rather unbeatable.

The good, the bad, and the really ugly
The room was size of shoe box. Carpet had 3 stains on it. Bathroom had new floor, bathtub and sink. About 20" flat screen TV in the room . Also had Wi-Fi in the room. Price was right, it is almost impossible to find hotel in DC that does cost an arm and leg ! Breakfast was ok they had cereal, muffins, bagels, waffles, orange juice, tea and coffee. Only one satff member was not very helpful. The rest of the staff was friendly and very help!

Decent hotel with bad service
Me and two other friends wanted a weekend away so we chose DC for some fun. Had plenty of fun, but was a little disappointed with this Hotel. Customer service was awful. The receptionists were not friendly at all. None of them greated or acknowledge us as we entered or exited the building. Three of us staying in this small room and still had to ask for extra key cards. Called acouple days before arriving to ask about car storage and was told that storage was $21.40 a day. When we arrived at the hotel we were told that they do not offer car storage and I had to find a parking garage that was open on Sunday so that we could leave on time. Granted the parking garage was a lot cheaper than what I was quoted, but still an inconvience, after driving 3 hours. The hotel room was rather small, the door did not shut on it's own, you had to push it shut. Sometimes the key cards would work and sometimes they did not. Two huge windows looking onto someones patio of the apartment next door. One of the windows had a huge crack that was taped up with gray duct tape. All the window sills were covered with bird droppings. The beds were big and very comfortable to name something good, they looked like they were rather new. Carpet's were clean and had no stains. Lobby was nice, but small. Very convient location for what we had in planned. Oh yeah the hotel room was not ready on time and we had to wait in the lobby for about 30 min.

really old
No parking available unless you walk several blocks to a garage; then you pay each time you want to take your car out. Street parking was a nightmare. The hotel is really old, the walls are very thin, no fridge, no microwave, no bureau to put your clothes in. The elevator was broken.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
3 close restuarants, one closes early evening, one open til 10pm, the last one would have required a 1.5 hour wait for a table.

The District
The whole experience was ridiculous. The building was in poor shape and the rooms were almost disgusting. I was afraid to walk on the carpet without shoes and the bathroom was dirty and there were bugs. The elevator was broken, so we had to carry our luggage up and down. There was no parking, except for 4 small spots solely designed for compact cars. We drive a Buick Enclave, so the receptionist had to call the other patrons parked already to come down and move their cars over so that we could fit. I would not stay at this hotel again. The only saving graces were the friendly receptionist and the pillows on the bed.

3/24/11-3/28/11 Review
The hotel was located near the city bus line which made it easy to get to the Smithsonian Mall and all other monuments. The hotel's elevator did not work which was not good as our room was on the 4th floor. Also, the breakfast area is rather small so seating is limited. The hotel was fine for the price paid. Staff were very friendly and able to answer any questions that came up.

Long walk from hotel
Take the bus and ask about the fare. We paid a couple different fares during our stay. It seems if we asked, the fare was less than displayed.

Nice location, great overall deal
The District Hotel was a very nice place to stay as long as you don't require immense luxury. The rooms were clean, the staff was helpful and courteous, and there was a CVS and 7-11 a few doors down.
