Great location and very friendly staff
The hotel was very comfortable with all nesessary amenities for business and leisure. The room and kitchen look much larger than anticipated. The biggest point - good location near metro station and White House. In a whole, Georgetown area is nice and quiet.

A hidden jewel
For the price I paid, I expected a bed, a bathroom, and a closet. What I got was a pair of Queen size beds (enough for a family of four), a closet, a bathroom, and a dressing room attached to the bathroom. But the best part was the full kitchen; stove, fridge, sink, table for two. And that wasn't even one of the suites. Awesome value. And the coolest part was, it was quiet at night. No traffic; no garbage trucks. Next trip, this is where I'm staying, kids and all.

Great Location, Super Convenient
The State Plaza Hotel was very charming. Aside from no wireless internet, the hotel was extremely comfortable. Having a full kitchen proved very nice when unexpected guests came to visit. The beds provided a great sleep and the location to all the monuments was perfect.

Great Location
The location was wonderful, you can walk to the metro, the Kennedy Center, The Lincoln Memorial, the White House. The hotel staff was friendly and accomadating. The room was large with a seprate dinning/kitchen area. It also has a nice little powder room just out side the bathroom. The hotel restaurant was nice and the food good. The service in the restaurnat was not great and the selection was limited, but the price was very reasonable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanted to see Washington.

There was a CVS pharmacy next door with mini mart inside. You could buy all of your kitchen items there. We ate breakfast in every morning. Many of the Washington attractions are within walking distance.

Everything you need and more
This is the hotel for the person who doesn't want to be paying $3.00 for a soda, etc. The building once housed apartments, so each room comes with a little kitchenette to allow you to do some basic cooking, heating, and keeping stuff in the refrigerator - in DC, that can save a lot of money. It's not fancy but such a relief to have a room design that's different from your standard hotel. It has a 'european' feel to it - a little older, small elevators, rugs that are very basic. But the bed is comfortable, the staff are great, the internet works, and you can make your own midnight snack. It's also a great location - right on the edge of the George Washington University campus - meaning more access to everyday shops like CVS etc. that are harder to find in the downtown area. It's only a couple of blocks from the mall, and within a few blocks of the Metro. The only down side is the four steps to the first elevator level. This could be a problem for anyone with mobility issues. All in all, I loved it, and this will be the first place I look to stay when going to DC.

There's a 24 hour CVS next door and a great restaurant, Tonic, that has good food, especially brunch on the weekends. It's also just a few blocks from the Mall near the Viet Nam Memorial.

Huge rooms with great views, very friendly staff
I go to DC for business at least once a month. This was my first stay at the State Plaza Hotel, and I will definitely stay there again in the future. The location is ideal for anyone with business in downtown (it's an easy walk to many locations in northwest dc, and close to the Foggy Bottom metro station). It's also very close to many tourist attractions (especially the Lincoln, Jefferson, Vietnam, Korean and WWII memorials, the White House and the Washington Monument). I had a view of the Washington Monument and the Capitol from my room. I also had a full kitchen with all the necessities, which made my extended stay pleasant (I could have cereal in the morning while I watched the Today show, it was just like home!). Although the decor is older, it's very clean and comfortable. It's also quite large. The staff is very approachable and helpful. It was the best hotel I've stayed at in DC (or Virginia for that matter).

Great location
An easy walk from the Metro. A 24 hour CVS was next door. A liquor store was next door. A kitchenette was included which I'll remember the next time I visit. The proximity to the Mall and the Metro was the biggest plus for me. The building appears to be older but when I asked where I could buy a high speed internetconnection the front desk whipped one out. My whole trip was a pleasant experience. I'll be back.
