Noise and More Noise

Excellent location however do not plan to have any peaceful sleep at night. Room was very small. Every time any door from another room would open, I could hear the vibration through our room! Loud locking systems from other rooms. Toilet sounded like a tornado after every flush!! I could hear every person walk outside our door and some idiot even had a cell phone conversation right outside our door. RUDE! If you didn't bring your kids you would have thought you did due to the running up an down the hallways! Bathrooms were dirty as well as dust everywhere. Glad I got home to sleep.

Eau de PineSol

I definitely would not classify this as a modern apartment-type hotel. Granted, they did have a flat-screened TV, but the nonworking heater, the worn carpeting, and the 1940s tile work and bathroom fixtures puts the word "modern" into perspective. I did not use the kitchenette. The overwhelming smell of PineSol cleaner was everpresent and made any time spent in the room very unpleasant.

An Apartment Hotel

Staff were very, very responsive when problems arose - internet connection, no hot water, no heater, safe malfunction, etc. They solved all problems quickly. Having a kitchen and being able to prepare "home-cooked" meals was great. Good location near the White House, and in the George Washington U neighborhood. It was quiet. I slept well. There was always some food odor in the hallways. Perhaps they can improve on the ventilation. The place could use a change in carpets - will do a lot to improve the cleanliness and ambience. Lobby and elevator access not facilitated for the disabled or for just anyone with heavy bags on wheels. Need to control infestation: I got insect bites! So, just like any place, there were plusses and minuses. Just want to give an objective review.

Location isn't everything :(

Internet service was terrible. On a business trip and it prevented me from working. Rooms and halls smelled bad. Room smelled musty like a wet dog. Checked out after being in the hotel for 1 hour. Management insisted that they would charge us regardless of our concerns. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE Thanks,

Good Location but that's it!

My family and I took a trip to D.C. to visit the memorials with my parents. I thought my wife, son, and I were going to be staying in a suite for privacy reasons. The State Plaza Hotel's version of a suite was two beds in the same room and a kitchen that looked like it belonged in a 1970's college dorm. Mismatched furniture and very outdated appliances. I think most people reserving a suite expect a separate living area with a pullout sofa not an ugly kitchen with cheap vinyl flooring and a useless powder room.

State Plaza Hotel

I enjoyed the room, as it was very clean and the staff were nice. I was excited to see that there was a kitchen, but disappointed to find that it was not stock with a cutting, dish towels, soap, or an oven. I am used to staying at the Virginian Suites which provides all of these items. However, the location of the State Plaza hotel was ideal. I would just ask that a cutting knife and kitchen towels/dish soap be provided and I would stay again.

There's almost no dining option around the hotel. The first night we arrived we went to bed without dinner because there was no place to eat.

AC was horrible!!!

Washington DC is very nice. We went to a lot of museums and had a great time with the family. The only thing we did not like was the temperature in the hotel room. When we got there, the room was extremely HOT and when we went to find out what was wrong, they said they have 2 systems for the AC and that they weren't ready for the cool system to kick off yet. So we weren't able to sleep with that temperature. If you're planning on staying in State Plaza Hotel in Washington DC, we recommend to go in winter time and you're not gonna have any problems with the AC. We've never had any problems in any other hotels when it comes to AC issues. Thanks!
