Would stay again

Room was very big and comfortable. Only downside: Parking with the hotel is very expensive and parking on the street is very difficult during the day on weekdays (2 hour limit everywhere). Location is very convenient if you are there to visit the National Mall.

Very nice!

Convenient to most things in D.C., especially the Vietnam Wall and the National Mall which is why we were there. My husbands name was added to the Wall. The room was extremely clean and pleasant, however, we had to walk through two buildings to get to the room. That was a tad inconvenient. Also, restaurant in hotel had extremely limited menu and not open all the time. Beds were very comfortable in fact my partner will probably buy one just like it when he returns home. Overall a very pleasant stay. I did get to ride the subway for the first time in my life. Unless you really like to walk, be prepared to pay public transportation of some type. D.C. is spread out and unless you are active and healthy, walking may be a problem.

Be prepared to pay for public transportation if you want a really good restaurant at a really good price. Most of the restaurants around our hotel were either pub types or very expensive.

Washinton Stay

The hotel was great. The room was very clean. Beds were very comfortable. The location was perfect, close to monuments. Recommend using the bus tour to see all the sights. You can get off and on at any stop. Save a lot of walking. Also recommend flying into Reagan Airport as it is close to hotel. We had good meals at the hotel. Good food and reasonable prices. We really enjoyed the trip. No problems.

Use the bus system to see all the sights before walking. You can get off at many attractions, saving the long walks. There were good places close to hotel to eat. You can also eat in your room.

State Plaza Hotel

Stayed at the State Plaza Hotel for 3 nights. It was a positive experience. It was clean and the staff was really great. Very friendly and were always willing to help with finding restaurants and activities to do. The rooms were small and average but did have a nice kitchen. For the price we paid it was good.

Great place to stay

If you are looking for marble and spa tubs, keep looking. If what you need is a clean, well-located place to stay near the mall in DC, this is a great place to stay. We were in town for a conference at the Corcoran (3 blocks away) and to see the normal tourist sites (the mall is only a few blocks away) and museums (a longer walk). The room was older but spotless, the bed comfortable, and the staff went out of their way to make sure our visit was great. We had such a good trip we are coming back in a few months for a longer stay.

Month in DC

We spent a month in Washington DC, seeing the sites and using the hotel as a base of operations. Its located close to the Metro and a few places to eat. The hotel is old, needs to have the rest rooms updated (urine smell). The staff is amazing they work hard and provide excellent service. On site resturant is ok, nothing special, food quality can be random. The room is advertised as having a kitchen, but you must ask for a microwave, there is limited dishes and nothing to cook with. Would not recommend if you expect to use the kitchen. Overall not somewhere I would recommend staying beyond two days.

Old but clean

The unit was old but the beds were comfortable and the room was clean. The electrical outlets were worn out. There was no microwave or oven but the stove top burners worked well. The large frig was nice. There were almost no pots or pans (had to ask for a fry pan). The staff responded well to any requests for needed items. The area was convenient and appeared to be fairly safe to walk around at night. The hotel is surrounded by George Washington University area. I would definitely stay here again.

Entertainment tip: Short walk from hotel

Use the Hop-on, Hop-off bus tour. We went on all four routes (red, blue, yellow and green). I feel like we really know Washington now. There is a convenient bus stop just North of the Lincoln monument a short walk from the hotel.
