Elegant hotel with classy restaurant steps away from the White House
The Sofitel Washington D.C. Lafayette Square is located in an updated historic landmark built in 1880. Its elegant furnishings, art pieces and interior appointments cement its classy reputation. The on-site restaurant, iCi Urban Bistro, offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. It serves upscale French bistro cuisine and homemade pastries for breakfast and dessert. Guests can mingle at one of D.C.'s best bars, Le Bar. The bar's glamorous atmosphere goes well with high-end cocktails, such as the Napoleon martini. There is a multi-lingual staff.

Good service, so so room.
The hotel service is good. One of the two rooms we have has some smells and they agreed to change the room for us. The room itself is kind of narrow and the air conditioner is blowing airs right to my feet during the night. The restroom is small too and the bathtube is not big enough to fit in an adult.

Spring Break Stay
Our trip was purely for sight seeing. We had a wonderful trip. The hotel was beautiful but it was the hotel staff that made the difference. The staff was always courteous and attentive. The doormen in particular were always welcoming and willing to help. The location was great - within walking distance to areas of interest. The only thing I would add is an area to view tours, etc.

A wonderful place to stay
The location is close to the White House and the Metro,getting around was easy. The staff were very courteous and helpful.

Use the Metro while you are visiting. It is easy to figure out. If you will be there for over 5 days buy a unlimited 7 day pass for the Metro.

Family Vacation
The location was great, close to all historial sites and walking distance to McPherson Metro Station. The two double beds in the room was a little small for four adults. The customer service from all hotel staff was outstanding.

Great stay!

Elegant hotel, friendly staff
- Easy to get to Metro to go to Washington Mall. - All small restaurants in the area close on the weekends. So you pretty much have to eat at the hotel. It was good but expensive. Friendly waitstaff though a bit disorganized. - Housekeeping and desk very friendly and helpful. - I was surprised that we had to pay for internet service and that there was no coffee or tea maker in the room considering the room price.

- Bobby Van's Steakhouse across the street was a good place to take the kids. Very friendly and good food. Not inexpensive, but worth it.

Service with Aloha
We were on vacation from Hawaii. Stayed at the Sofitel because it was recommended by friend and by it reputation. I made the right choice because it was first class. They train their staff well. I would go back soon but its so far away.

NICE LOCATION FOR A WALK TO THE MALL
EVERYTHING WAS GREAT, I FORGOT TO ASK FOR A MAP OF THE MALL. (AND I GOT LOST) THEY SHOULD HAVE GIVEN IT TO ME WITHOUT ASKING.

IF MORE THAN ONE DAY, BUY A BUS PASS THAT LETS YOU OFF AND ON ALL OF THE TIME. SAVES THE SORE FEET. OR DO SOME WALKING AND ON LONG WALKS GET A TAXI. IF THERE IS A LINE FOR TAXI, GO TO NEXT CORNER. THERE IS A GREAT DELI FOR A FAST BREAKFAST AT THE LEFT STREET CORNER OF HOTEL DOOR. JUST ASK DIRECTIONS AND NAME OF THE DELI DOWN THE STREET.

Great Location & Great Staff
The Sofitel staff is centered on making your stay in Washington DC a pleasant and memorable one. They were quick to offer assistance and were always very pleasant...from maid service to front desk to concierge to the restaurant...great employees! Our room was clean and comfortable with the beds and bedding being our favorite part...Very comfortable. No street noise or hallway noise AND our room was always the perfect sleeping temperature. We really enjoyed the Chic Picnic... the meal was delicious and they even provided us a blanket to sit on. :)

Old Post Office Pavillion had the best deals on tourist T-shirts and sweatshirts. There is a great view from clock tower which is free and did not involve any waiting time.

Business Person on Vacation
Lovely stay at the Sofitel
We flew in on a red eye and were able to check our bags with the front desk. Check in is listed as 3 PM, but they were able to get us a room by 11 AM! The staff is wonderful, breakfast lovely and the room very comfortable. The location is very convenient (right behind the White House). We will definitely stay there again.
