Elegant hotel with classy restaurant steps away from the White House
The Sofitel Washington D.C. Lafayette Square is located in an updated historic landmark built in 1880. Its elegant furnishings, art pieces and interior appointments cement its classy reputation. The on-site restaurant, iCi Urban Bistro, offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. It serves upscale French bistro cuisine and homemade pastries for breakfast and dessert. Guests can mingle at one of D.C.'s best bars, Le Bar. The bar's glamorous atmosphere goes well with high-end cocktails, such as the Napoleon martini. There is a multi-lingual staff.

Great Location
The Sofitel Lafayette Square in D.C. was a great choice. The location was great - 2 blocks from the White House and just around the corner from the Metro. The bathrooms were very nice and spaceous - having a seperate shower stall and tub. The lighting in the bathroom was excellent for applying makeup (which is very unusual for a hotel bathroom). The room was a nice size as well for two adults. Old Ebbitt Grill is across the street and is a great place to eat, plus it seems to be very popular among the locals. We will more than likely return to the Sofitel on our next visit to D.C.

Great place to stay in DC
The Sofitel was very nice. Great downtown location is just the start. The rooms are very comfortable, clean and most surprisingly for a large city...QUITE! I will stay there every chance I have when traveling back to DC.

The Sofitel Lafayette Square is an excellent hotel that features well-furnished, comfortable rooms that have large, well-appointed bathrooms. The restaurant is quite good. It is just a few blocks from the the White House.

Best Place in DC!
This was our first trip to Washington D.C. and we were so lucky to pick the perfect hotel - the Sofitel Lafayette Square. This is a first rate hotel in the best walking location to all the sites. Two blocks from the Whitehouse and 4 blocks from the Washington Mall. The room, staff, restaurant and food were excellent. Service was A+ with nice little extras! Also close to outside restaurants and shopping. Highly recommend and will definitely stay there again next time we're in D.C.

Awesome Location
We stayed 5 nights and truly enjoyed our location. There was a great deli on the corner-Loebs?-, the White House was just 2 blocks away and 15th Street was a short walk to the mall and all of the museums, Wash monument, etc. The staff was very efficient. We ordered room service twice and were pleased with the meals. Metro Station was just two blocks away too. A very convenient location. I would stay there again.

Great location
The Sofitel is located near the White House and popular monuments. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable and had many amenities. We were dissatisfied with the check-in. We arrived early (1:15 PM) and check-in is at 3:00. I have to say the Concierge, was the best. He couldn't have been more helpful or pleasant.

Great staff/location to the mall and metro
The hotel was very comfortable. The hotel is not cheap but very little is in Washington, DC. Would we stay there again...Yes.

Always take the Metro and if you plan to be there >= 3 days purchase the pass for unlimited use for seven days. When we were there in 9/07 it was only $22.00.

Very interesting hotel
Frenchies in holidays ,we are stayed two nights at the hotel!All was perfect, rooms, staff, check in and out and location! Near all the most important place of the town ,It's very easy to visit White House, Washington monument and all the Mall! We are very enjoy and come back surely in this place!!

so nice to return to after a hard day of touristing
Everything was very well done. The room was comfortable and classy, not large but so well done it didn't seem to matter. We were in Washington DC to see the sights and when we returned to the room it felt good to relax there. The glass shower seperate from the tub was great and awesome towels. The decorating was classy in a nice modern way without being showy. Very comfortable bed after a day of beating the DC streets and sights. One and a half blocks from the White House and two blocks from the Metrorail. Easy to get to about anywhere. The staff was courteous and very helpful.

Buy a Metrorail pass and get to 90% of everything you want to see in DC with in two blocks of the hotel. No need to rent a car.
