Conveniently located and Comfortable

this was VERY conveniently located- minutes from all the smithsonian museums (we walked to all of them), as well as the capitol. there are also plenty of places to eat but BEWARE: DO NOT waste money on food, its very expensive and super small proportions. the room service is nice.

great location

The negative aspect about this reservation was the room detail stated 1 queen bed or 2 queen beds and I specified that my reservation was for 3 adults. Luckily, I called the hotel and stated I would be in need of 2 beds and they stated that booking on the internet will only give you what the hotel has available. I asked them to cancel my reservation then and all of a sudden they had 2 beds available.

Beautiful and elegant

The hotel was gorgeous. The staff friendly. However, the handicapped room was way too far from the elevator. Difficult for someone on o2 to walk easily. My son and I received a room with a single King bed when I had asked for doubles. They did send in a roll away, which needs no explanation about the comfort.

Clean, Comfortable, Convenient

We were in town for 3 nights and 4 days to enjoy the city and sights. The location was stellar! The hotel staff was on par for what you would expect at a Renaissance property - professional, courteous and pulled together. The lobby was gorgeous as it underwent a complete renovation 3 months prior to our arrival. The rooms themselves were nice enough with adequate space, decent furnishings and comfortable beds and bedding (without the horrible polyester quilts). The rooms are slated to undergo remodeling next year. If we're back, we'd definitely stay there again.

Excellent hotel in the center of town!!

The hotel lobby and lobby bar were just renovated and they're spectacular. The gym was clean, and seemed recently updated with new equipment. The staff was pleasant and accommodating. We will be back! Location is extremely convenient and located downtown. About a ten minute walk to the National Park, and the hotel is very close to Chinatown. If you're taking a bus to DC (i.e. Megabus, Bolt, etc.) this location is especially convenient as these buses load and unload across the street.

Renaissance Washington was good.

Traveling with 3 small children on sightseeing trip. Took train to Union Station. Cab ride to hotel was very expensive 25$ for about 1 mile ride. Hotel was attractive and clean. Check in was seemless and extra bed requested was delivered immediately. Room was tight for us with 2 adults and three children. Refrigerator would have been nice. But on the whole, it was clean and housekeeping was good. Staff was helpful for information. For sightseeing, white house was a 10 minute walk, most smithsonian museums about 15 minutes and Washington monument and Lincoln memorial were more distant at about 20 - 25 minutes. Did not use hotel dining, seemed expensive and not a lot of options for children.

Great stay but long walk to the Mall

I selected this hotel based on location and price. We had just a couple of days to visit Washington and it wasn't as close to the Mall as I thought it would be so we ended up using a trolley. It is close to a lot of dining options but if you are short of time the breakfast buffet at the hotel is wonderful.[...] The bed was the best. Our room facing the inside corridor on the 10th floor was very quiet and comfortable. This hotel would have received a five star rating but getting information and help from the male concierges was like pulling teeth. The female concierge on the day shift was very helpful.

Sightseeing tip: In Hotel

Make sure you buy a pass for the shuttle to the trolley office from the concierge before boarding the trolley. The evening male concierge doesn't give you this information. I found out asking the female concierge the next morning.Another couple would have missed the tolley shuttle if we had not been there to let them know.

Thank You!

We had an awesome time. Our room was immaculate and the room service was nice and professsional. The view was right on target. The lobby has been remodeled and has an inviting atmosphere. We enjoyed the bar area with friends; lunch was also available in the restaurant; and StarBucks hit the spot each morning. Thank you for putting your best foot forward.
