look somewhere else, please
distance from DCA is ok. First bad experience was at the front desk. It seems that the male clerk needs advice on how to greet customers. After all the confusion, we finally got our room. Not what we expected. The pictures of this motel (its far from being a hotel! ) were taken somewhere else, they may look the same but are not. Distance from the motel to the nearest train station is far, far, far. Very nasty and dangerous neighborhood. Motel is on a very busy avenue New York Ave). Look for opposite bedrooms when booking, the motel sign is too bright at night. The inside door locks are nothing secure we did not feel safe.

Fly in our room, yuck!
Upon arrival the first thing we noticed was a pool with green water. Then once in our room there was a fly zooming around and would not leave. The a/c didnt really get cold either. The breakfast wad good and the office people were very friendly and helpful. Infact, the girl behind the desk went out to her car and offered us her umbrella because there was no doubt it was going to rain.

Yucky!
This hotel is run down and dirty. There were holes in the wall and ceiling, hair in the bathroom, unidentifiable stains on the ironing board, the tub was cracked, etc. I would not recommend staying here. The staff was friendly, but the dirtiness of the place was too much for me. At breakfast, once they ran out of stuff they didn't restock. I went down at 9 and all they had left was bread and cereal. I got the last waffle, so the people who came between 9:15 and 10 didn' have many choices.

Only if you're really broke
There is a reason this hotel is cheaper than the rest. It is very dirty and in a horrible neighborhood. It was my first trip to DC. I won't make the mistake of this hotel again.

Good Value for Money
This hotel is in a off-beat location (sometimes tough to get a cab), but if one is ok with it, this is one of the best values for the money in DC area.

Dining tip:
Long walk from hotel
A McDonald and Wendy's are the only dining options within a mile from the hotel... but if one has a car, within 15 mins, most part of the city is within reaching distance (incl Union station restraunts)

Not so Super 8
The super 8 is in a very bad area. There are no choices for dining and you cannot walk anywhere. You must take a taxi to and from the hotel. The room was basic with no iron but was reasonably clean and most things worked. I would not recomend this for anyone.

Not the value you think it is
The Washington, DC Super 8 Motel was not even worth the money we paid for it. Since we're in college, me and my friend were looking for a cheaper option for a DC hotel while we were on our way to Boston--we drove! Needless to say, please spend the extra $30 next time. The motel was horrible. When you check in, the motel staff is very unhappy-looking and very curt. And, if this is any indictation of the part of DC you are in, the staff was behind a bullet-resistent partition the whole time. There is no elevator, so you must bring up your suitcases yourself on the stairs. In addition, the room itself was horrible. There was left-over food from the motel room's previous guests that we had to dispose of ourselves. In addition, the drapes for the 1 window did not close all the way. Luckily, we had tape so we taped them down. In addition, the motel is not in the best section of town at all. We were definitely in the unsavory part of town. Ultimately, it makes a good road-trip story but not much else. In other words, DO NOT STAY HERE! BEWARE! Pay the extra $30 and stay somewhere where you are not afraid of your car being broken into or your not so savory neighbors peaking in while you get dressed.

Staff needs improvrmrnt
Super 8 in Washington, DC downtown is located in the neighborhood where you are not advised to walk alone especially after dusk. Staff in the hotel is not very friendly. Even get glass of water in the office is hard. The reception was telling us untruth when we asked where is our luggage.
