Great location

My room was a double, so I had plenty of room. I told the front desk that whoever the interior decorator was, they were very talented. The room decor was creative, fresh and different from your standard hotel room. The front desk staff was very helpful. The hotel restaurant is a little pricey, but the steak I had was excellent. Parking was high at the hotel (over $35 per day), but you have in-out privileges, and it's valet services. I would definitely stay again.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

The hotel is near the Dupont Center Metro stop (about 2-3 blocks). The hotel is near a grocery store, and a variety of restaurants, a CVS, and other shops to get things you need.

chic & sexy

I am a makeup artist & love all things visual. When I opened the door I immediately dropped my bags & grabbed my camera! Wow, such a gorgeous room. I upgraded for $75 to a King Spa room with a Fuji Soaking Tub!! And there's a window cutout over the tub that lets you see the bed and the 32" tv. Or vice versa, meow! Going back to DC next week & already booked this room again!! Walking distance to all, great variety of restaurants.

Perfect Location

Proximity to Rock Creek Park and Metro red line is perfect. Great staff, and amenities. Loved the free boarding pass printing. Elevators were slow, but other than that, great hotel.

Modest price am exceptional guest care.

This is no cookie cutter hotel! It is fun and friendly. At the same time, the decor is contemporary, comfortable and upbeat. The best is the very friendly and accommodating staff. Guest gatherings in the early evening and morning coffee with newspapers are a great way to start and end a work day.

Central to everything

The Hotel Palomar was perfect for our needs in everyway. It was surrounded by restaurants and little cafes, was within walking distance (less than 5 minutes) to the metro line, and had an outdoor pool (hard to find in D.C.). They had a great wine, beer, and olive happy hour every night from 5-6, where everything was free and people would sit and relax and unwind after a day of siteseeing. The hotel's room are a little modern, which I found refreshing, but my boyfriend thought was weird. They had a plasma tv in our room and little touches like leopard and tiger printed bathrobes were cute. I did not eat at the hotel's restaurant or have the room service because there was too many other cheaper possibilities on P street. The only thing that I didn't like about the Palomar was the parking, $38 dollars a night, seemed a bit pricey. I can get cheaper in NYC!! But overall the experience was nice and we would definately go back their again when we go to Washington.

IF you are going to be going to the sights or into Alexandria, VA (cute historic town), then buy a full day pass on the metro. It $6 and its cheaper than buying trips everytime you go through one gate.

Good Trip....few concerns

The location of the hotel was great. The staff was very friendly and timely with any requests. My only concern was the towels, they appeared to be dingy and over used.

Lots of amenities, a tad pricey

The Hotel Palomar is on the pricey side but there are a TON of amenities offered by the hotel. However, it's the small touches that make this an excellent hotel-- yoga mats in each room, a well stocked gym, happy hour in the bar, tasteful, modern decor on the rooms. All this plus an amazing location, you can walk or take the metro anywhere! Great stay in DC.

The Perefet Place to Stay

I usually stay in the Marriott family of hotels -- well, no longer. If this Kimpton is typical of others in the chain, this is my new home away from home. Very stylish, modern, club-like feeling, similar to a W. This particular hotel has a great location surrounded by places to eat and drink, close to the Metro, but still walking distance to the Georgetown and Dupont neighborhoods.
