Unhappy about charge to my card

Problem - improper charges at this hotel

Stayed two days in December 2010. The hotel room was fine. At check in I gave my confirmation # from [...]. They collected my bank card and I confirmed with the person that that he understood it was for incidentals because the room is paid for through [...]. The clerk said he understood. Turns out they charged my card $311; the [...]price was $193 so who knows where they came up with this figure. I discovered the improper charge 2 weeks later, called the hotel and they are crediting my card (will take another 7 to 10 days). They did not seem surprised at their error nor was there any apology. Maybe they wanted me to apologize to them. This charge was to my debit card so my checking account was $311 less than I thought. Checks could have bounced. This type of error is inexcusable, and the failure to even offer a half-hearted apology makes me wonder whether it really was a mistake or if its common practice at this hotel.

Not Awful...

The hotel was decent at best. The customer service at the front desk was good, but when we arrived to check in they said the room would not be available for an hour after check in time. The room was big. It had a nice sitting area and kitchen but the bad and pillows were by far the most uncomfortable i have ever used in a hotel. I was woken up at 8:30 in the morning by the cleaning service trying to clean our room. She came back 2 more times in the next hour until I finally put the do not disturb sign on my door. Check out was at 12:00. Also parking is very difficult at this location and it cost 30 extra dollars to have the valet park your car for you. I would not return to this hotel.

Funky

Old and funky hotel. I only stayed one night, thank goodness. Non-smoking room smelled like stale cigarettes, the faucet dripped, couldn't get wifi to work. No bottled water in the room and no vending machines to purchase. On the plus side, staff was pleasant.

Really Nice, Convenient, but Noisy!

This Hotel presents an excellent value for the money. The staff could not be nicer or more helpful. They gave us tips on where to eat and where super-helpful with any question. The hotel is just a short distance to many of the sites we wanted to visit. Unfortunately the hotel has George Washington University Hospital, A Fire Station and a Police Station as neighbors and the siren activity between the three of them was frequent and loud.

Average hotel

We stayed in the "suite", and it did not meet expectations. Chipped tile, dark shower, empty living area, and $35 per day for parking will keep me from coming back.

Good location but noisy

The hotel is a good location to the Metro rail stop which was nice, but it is also right near the GWU Hospital therefore there are sirens coming by at all times of the night so it is very noisy. We stayed on the lower floor so perhaps that made is louder. If you can get a room on the upper floors perhaps it would be quieter. Overall I would recommend the hotel as the staff was excellent Elliot & Alisonia were very helpful as well as the other staff.

nice location

Excellent location! Easy walk to Georgetown and the major DC sites. not far from the metro. Hotel beds were comfortable but room otherwise was lackluster. Carpets and bathroom needed updating. room was large and kitchen was great. It'd be a nice family setup or great for business. Good thing we didn't want to sleep in; jackhammering began at 9 am. If parking, request your car at least 1/2 hour before you want it.

A Good Experience

Attended a Kennedy Center show and stayed overnight. The hotel is within walking distance for those able. Parking is expensive at the hotel $33.60 (w/tax). Staff were friendly and put us in a 'quiet' room. Started with a great standard room without a kitchen...very comfotable all the way around. All was well but toilet didn't work so we had to move rooms later into the evening. Unfortunately, while the new room had a kitchen and the toilet worked the room was fairly noisy (emergency vehicles in PM and AM), it was warm, humid, and the bed was rather uncomfortable. Generally, a good experience with helpful staff at a nice price...nearly all rooms are suites...even so, might try other options the next go 'round.

I'd park at the hotel and walk to the Kennedy Center if you're physically able...it's about 3 tenths of a mile...or roughly 3 blocks.

Great location for sightseeing.

Stayed here while sightseeing. Walking distance from all the major attractions in DC, Smithsonian, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument etc. We stayed on the first floor which was slighly loud with outside car traffic noise. Room was clean and the front desk folks were very helpful and professional.
