just what we expected

Would recommend Tue, Sep 22, 2009
Visited our Rep. John Mica of Florida and took part in the 1.7 million Americans Tea Party Freedom March,Against our out of control Government spending. We missed not allowing for More time to enjoy the history of our country. We had visited Washington D.C. two years before. This trip was much greater but Their is so much more to be seen.

Excellent place to stay

Would recommend Sun, Sep 20, 2009
I would not have found this place if Orbitz had not suggested it, and I really enjoyed this hotel. It's a simplier experience. They don't have a fitness center or pool, but they have a porch and a courtyard where you can sit outside to visit with friends, or enjoy your cocktails during happy hour. We like to stay downtown in DC, because we enjoy walking to see the sights. The bus and subway were also easily accessible from the hotel. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, the food in the hotel was reasonable and good. Our room was quiet, clean and comfortable. I'm not sure if they do this daily, but one afternoon they provided fresh baked cookies and home-made lemonade in the afternoon. I would stay here again.

Attractions

We visited Thompson Boat Center which was a bus ride and then about a mile walk. They had kayaks available, but we opted to rent bikes and then rode the bike path along the Potomac River. Very nice break from the traditional things to do in DC.

Great service, beautiful hotel!

Would recommend Sun, Sep 20, 2009
Everyone was extremely nice and the service was first class (turn down service and clean rooms every day) The only drawback was that the location is a little too far from metro stations,But, them again, the walk couldn't hurt!

Something Different

Would recommend Mon, Aug 31, 2009
My girlfriend and I stayed here for the 2009 Washington DC Fringe Fest and were just blocks away from all the major venues. With the classic Victorian decor and a balcony that overlooked the street our room had a charming ambience that made it feel more like we were guests in someone's home rather than at a hotel.

Dining

There's a great Belgian restaurant just a few blocks away from the hotel called Brasserie Beck (http://www.beckdc.com/). It has outdoor seating, delicious gourmet food and one of the largest beer menus I've ever seen in my life! Great spot for a date!

Nice classy place

Classic hotel, very nice. Quaint is a good description for this hotel. But still a very classy historic feeling. Regular keys instead of modern card locks. But everything in the room was really nice. B&B feel to the place.

comfort in the heart of the capitol

Would recommend Wed, Aug 5, 2009
easy to get to....right where everything was. We used Union Station for sightseeing and there was lots of restaurants and attractions nearby. It was a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the city around us when we wanted to relax and cleanup.

Attractions

we used the double decker hop on/ hop off tour as transportation and saw the all the sites of the city.It stopped very close to the hotel.

We loved this place!!! The location is perfect because is close to main attractions (walking distance). It's a very cozy place, staff is wonderful and the most important...it's a very clean place. My favorite part was the bed.. I slept like a baby those two nights that we spent there for our family trip!

Nightlife hint

If you are looking for nightclubs or bars Georgetown and DuPont circle have a great variety of them. We like Latin music so we went to Cafe Citron in DuPont circle on Saturday night.Great music!!!

Wonderful value

Would recommend Sun, Aug 2, 2009
The service was exquisite. Extremely convenient location to the Convention Center and my conference location, the Renaissance Center. Several blocks to nearest Metro station, but doable, even with luggage. Wonderful respite from sterile, cookie-cutter generic hotel rooms. Room was small, but that really added to the charm. There was a desk to work at, which was all I needed other than a bed. Lovely restaurant on site. The only downside was considerable stairs at the entrance, which was a challenge with luggage. The bell staff tried its best, but with two entrances not in easy view of each other, they couldn't always be there to help. Quiet for the middle of a noisy city.

Nice place but noisy elevator

Would recommend Fri, Jul 31, 2009
I occasionally make short stays in Washington, D.C. for business and decided to try this historic building that's been converted to an inn. When I travel I need a comfortable bed, a clean bathroom, a working TV and a place to rest papers and a laptop computer. The room in which I stayed was missing only the desk/table. The two tiny nighstands just didn't cut it. The room was periodically rocked by the extremely noisy elevator as it roared to life to lift guests to the upper floors. I initially thought the place was haunted.

Dining

Try Jaleo, a great Spanish restaurant in the 400-block of 7th Street NW. The wait staff will guide you through their tapas menu. Full dinners also are available. So good!

Be realistic

Would recommend Wed, Jul 22, 2009
Morrison Clark is a building with history. that is interesting! if you like to walk & explore the neighborhoods on your way to visiting specific sites, this is a good choice. within walking distance to Pennsylvania Ave. + you can find lots of little spots to eat or sit & relax. the parking is relatively cheap ($28 + tax) and in the hotel basement which is safe. bell hop staff is wonderful! adjust to your room which in our case was clean & met our sleeping requirements. liked air conditioning that kept us cool in DC heat & was a duct-work system which was not too noisy. room in upper floors-inner court was quiet but can imagine that street-view rooms might be noisier. would return, keeping in mind that the well-appointed photos in these ads never match your actual accomodations. also, leave time for check-in. check-in is 3pm and we finally got in at 3:35 which was a rush for our 5pm reservations that evening! hotel is not the pictured fairy tale but would return as the reality was not unpleasant!

Attractions

if you like to walk, explore the area and you will find shopping, movies, DC attractions, and an array of dining choices
