Truly classic and sophisticated historic hotel

A little jaded
did not meet the description on this site
This site characterized the room as being 525 square feet in size and having a "separate living area". The room was small enough that the king sized bed took up nearly all of it (i.e., nowhere near 525 square feet) and the "separate living area" was a small desk and single office chair, both hemmed in by walls on three sides. A lot of noise from the hallway intruded into the room at night.

Excellent Business Location
Hotel Monaco's location is excellent for getting to and from the Mall, White House and other federal buildings. The building is an old post office that has been turned into a comfortable hotel with a unique feel and comfort. Staff is very attentive.

Great place to stay in historical building. Good dining in the hotel and free wine tasting from 5-6:30 in the hotel lobby. Try it.

Great Location to See People
In the heart of downtown, in the center of the action, Hotel Monaco is the perfect location for drinks, meetings, or even the right place to stay if you're meeting people all over the city. The only complaint could be that the rooms are a little small, though very comfortable. However, the Hotel has great character. Will stay here again.

Great Stay
I highly recommend the Hotel Monaco. The hotel itself is a beautifully restored historic building in a great location to Chinatown - the Smithsonian American Art Museum and Portrait gallery directly across the street. Safe clean area. The room was way beyond expectations - high ceilings and beautiful furnishings. Very rich feeling. The bed was so comfortable and the room was quiet. We'll definitely stay here again.

Great hotel, great location. Hotel Monacos are always good and good value. Only negative I can think of is that the restaurant needs restrooms on the main floor.

Fantastic location
rooms have 15 foot ceilings in country's first federal post office. My 3rd stay there. Really a fun place to stay. Very good restaurant located in hotel. Across from the National Gallery of Art and the Verizon Sports Arena. Junos is a good tapas restaurant also across the street.

The Shakespeare Theatre is one block away on 7th St, and Ford's Theatre is a few blocks in the other direction. Take in a play if you can; both are lovely and historic venues.

Gut gelegen, Historischer Bau, wohnliche Zimmer. hilfsbereites Personal, freundlich, nicht aufdrängend. Habe mich sehr wohl gefühlt. Voller Preis waere zu teuer, aber für ca 200 Dollar die Nacht Spitzenklasse!
