A Mixed Bag

Great location near museums. We weren't informed that internet connectivity would be $9.99/day. We were there six days and bathroom floor was never cleaned. Maids would take drinking glasses and not replace them. When I called "Guest Services" with a question, was bumped to front desk, made to wait 10 minutes and the system hung up on me. I tried a second time with a repeat. Understaffed and not very caring.

Not that impressive

was ok. they let us check in at 11 instead of 3, which was great. we weren't impressed with the room at all. it was a "la quinta inn" type of room. nothing like the pictures. lobby and restaurant was nice, didn't have food, even with the 50% off cupon they gave us it was pretty expensive. they had a nice starbucks in the hotel, expensive as well. loved the location. very close to any major transportation!

Nice hotel in the Capital area

Courteous, helpful doorman & concierge. Nice and quiet, except when lots of kids went by in the hall. Expensive restaurant, relatively poor service. Iced tea $4.50, salad $10. Colorado lamb overcooked. Bagel & salmon with coffee cost $29!

The staff was friendly and when told of mistakes, they were quick to respond. However, it was annoying that there were so many mistakes.

Costly Valet Parking! Watch out!

Valet parking fee was $41! Quite expensive and unexpected. No self-parking available. No restaurants very near although Chinatown was not too far, about 10 blocks or so.

Hotel nice however got food poisioning

The hotel and location were great. Price was great for what was offered. The staff very friendly. We were 100% satisfied when we left. However, we got home and discovered we both got food poisioning from the restaurant. The food was excellent we thought at the time - we shared two dishes for lunch and then left and drove home. That was all we ate all day and about 9pm that night - we both started getting sick an hour apart from each other and it lasted 2 days. It was awful what we went through.

Weekend in DC

The staff at the Hyatt were wonderful, from the front door personnel to the housekeepers. Food at the restaurant was good, wine was very expensive $14 for a glass of Pino Grigio. The hotel is located close to the Metro at Union Station, so it is easy to get around DC. Furniture in the lounge was stained and dirty, the rugs are worn and faded. In the morning, you can see that the guest room was not vacuumed under the bed in a very long time.

It was okay

It was a great price in a great location just blocks from Union Station and the Capital Building. The rooms were nice; however, the noise in the hallways is amplified. In additon, the ice machine in the hallway contributed to the noise. Even though the price ($89) was a great, I had to pay an additional $45.00 a day for parking. There is no free Wi-Fi and to use the computers in the business area was 0.40 cents a minute. Not good for business use.

Pros and Cons

Great hotel and friendly staff, parking attendant actually saved me $40 by telling me where to park instead of using valet parking. My vehicle was safe and I received no tickets. Only down fall is that if you are a middle class American who only travels occassionally due to economic restraints, it is very unfortunate that you can not eat at the hotel because of the outragious prices. I understand that things are a little bit more expensive when you are vacationing however, $14 for two scrambled eggs is ridiculous.

Ok for a conference

The Hyatt is pretty much like a Holiday Inn these days if the Regency in Washington is an example. The king sized bed gave my partner hip aches from being so hard. The room was clean and the staff pleasant. The bar and restaurant are over-priced. The best thing about this place is the lounge/restaurant in the Liason Hotel across the street which was hopping with activity.
