The walk from the hotel to the National Mall is about 2 miles and well worth it during the summer. If the walk is too much the metro is close and so easy to use.

Walk two blocks up to Dupont Circle and, weather permitting -- sit on the park benches and people watch. It's a relaxing and interesting way to spend a few hours. Pick up a Starbuck's along the way -- there is one next to the Hotel Palomar or right on Dupont Circle. Enjoy the heart of Washington, DC.

"Three thumbs up!"
Will Sep 14, 2009
I lived in Washington, DC for 12 years and return 6 times per year for business and pleasure. This was the first time I ... stayed at the Hotel Palomar. I have stayed at numerous hotels in DC and around the world. My Palomar experience is among the top three I have ever had. The staff -- every one of them I encountered -- were friendly, professional and "can do" oriented. My room was intelligently designed. They thought of everything, even down to dimmer switches on all their lighting and lamps. The lobby provides the perfect place to chill with visiting friends or associates. The restaurant offers an excellent menu and quality presentation. Finally, the location -- just a few blocks from Dupont Circle and the Metro there -- couldn't be better. I honestly look forward to my next visit to Washington, DC just so I can stay at the Hotel Palomar!

There is a small Lebanese style cafe with excellent food at very reasonable prices. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Prices are at least half of what you would pay at any of the other restaurants in the vicinity including the hotel's.

We stayed for one night, and enjoyed the most from this high class hotel. People were very friendly and the staff were ... excellent. Great location, clean rooms, loaded snack bars in the room, what more can you ask for? Although the valet parking was a little expensive compared to other hotels. It was a great experience overall. Have always enjoyed the Palomar, especially at Orbitz's rates. Great loation to Georgetown, downtown and DuPont Circle. Great ... little coffee shop across the street for breakfast with good coffee and very accessible to Rock Creek Park for morning walk. Great touch with free cocktail hour every night. I have stayed here on three separate occasions and enjoyed them all. So far, my favorite hotel in DC

Minutes from the Dupont Circle metro stop, this hotel has the perfect location. You can take the metro to all of the tourist ... attractions during the day and stroll around Dupont Circle at night without having to worry about any transportation costs. The free wine from 5-6 is an added bonus. The concierge was very helpful when we asked for assistance in chossing a guided tour and directions to Georgetown (which is walking distance). I was a little worried when booking that the room would smell like dog since the hotel is pet friendly, but it didn't at all. It smelled great! Loved it!

Had I known the area better, I would have chose a hotel closer to downtown where a lot of the museums, memorials, and monuments were located. I spent too much $$ on metro and taxis.

Everyone should go to Mount Vernon and if you do, go as early in the day as possible. We went on Father's Day and the line to get into the main house was over an hour long. Also try to buy tickets for many of the D.C. attractions online (small service charge but well worth it to avoid long lines).
