Disappointing

I visit Washington frequently and am always trying new hotels. The Hotel Lombardy is an older hotel that has been updated in a few areas. Our room was quite small and looked out onto an office building across an alley. needless to say, the blinds had to be closed during the day. The good news was that the bathroom was newly renovated. We left Saturday morning at 9AM and put the 'make up the room' sign out but when we returned at 4, the room had not been cleaned nor had the room service tray been removed. ( Room service for fruit and cereal took over 45 minutes to arrive by the way). When I called the front desk, the woman just said, "OH, I'll get back to you on that" We said we would be leaving again at 5:30 and to make up the room then but the maid arrived at 5 to clean. Our friends down the hall had no troubles and had a large room with a kitchenette and extra seating. Their room was also cleaned on time. Overall, it was very disappointing and we will not stay there again.

Good location in Foggy Bottom

The room was so tiny that it was impossible to move in it! The mini bar was not stocked and the dresser drawers were falling off. Will not stay here again in spite of location. Was not worth what I paid for it.

Antiquated but clean

The Hotel Lombardy was not anything I expected from the virtual review that was available--very misleading in the spaciousness of those extremely small areas. The hotel was clean, but bathroom is too anitquated with a window above the tub area; there was not a micro wave in the room and that is standard even in Best Western hotels. The staff was constantly cleaning something in the entrance area and were always there to hail a taxi or assist with baggage. I don't think I would stay there again.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Pennsylvania Avenue NW is a very good location to venture from plus there are plenty of dining areas located near the Hotel Lombardy. The best we found was Kinkeads in a small shopping area less than a block across from the Hotel Lombardy. Great place to eat, but bring your money and it is well worth it.

Nice hotel - horrible lack of parking

Hotel was very nice and charming. The lack of available guest parking made it a difficult stay. Location was great, easy walk to the White House and other sites.

Almost but not quite a winner

This hotel showed both "old-style" flair and "old style" wear and tear. Carpets were worn, lighting was too dark overall and staff service was uneven. Some staff was very friendly and knowledgeable while other staff was clueless handling simple requests or questions. The room was spotless and quiet. Old time plumbing fixtures and wooden blinds were quaint and evoked a charming older style. The location on Pennsylvania Ave. is a real winner, allowing for the ability to get almost anywhere in the city easily and quickly. I was told that the human operated elevators are going to be replaced in the near future with modern customer directed elevators. A loss in terms of uniqueness in my opinion. In summary; great location, spotty service, uneven physical condition and overpriced considering the total package offered at this hotel.

Great location...

Stayed 4 nights. Had plumbing issues the second night but was resolved very quickly. Front desk staff were -ok the baggage handlers and other general staff were really good and made us feel very welcome. The room was clean but small, but expected in an old hotel. I would stay there again next time I go to Washington as it's really close to the metro and the Whitehouse and the mall is just a stroll away

Extremely Mediocre

Quaint old hotel. Nice room layout with comfortable king bed, sitting area, small kitchen with refrig and microwave. No charge for wi-fi. Room was very humid and the air conditioner never did work right. When we tod the desk clerk at about 6:30 PM when leaving for dinner. he told us they were having trouble all over the hotel and engineering was fixing the problem. That didn't happen. The room was on the Pennsylvania Ave side and was very noisy all night. Only way to get ice is to call the desk for room service delivery. Make sure the A/C works and stay on the north side of the hotwl and you'll be fine. Tip the ice man.

Great Location, great staff, rooms need some things...

Beautiful building located three blocks from the White House. Rooms are well maintained and the staff members are super. Parking is an issue as there isn't any and no deal associated with the hotel like other chains in the area. Police and ambulance sirens can be heard throughout the night and day, halls are dark, and while we were there the air conditioning broke overnight and we woke up in a 80 degree room. This is a nice hotel however and I would stay aain and recommend to others.

Attractions are all within two miles......there is an excellent bike rental system in DC with two faciiities for renting close the hotel. Also subway stations are to the east and west within a few blocks providing access to nationals Park, the Zoo and other things.
