Great location

Hotel Lombardy was everything we were looking for--quaint, old-world style, not your usual cookie-cutter hotel. Staff was great. Location was excellent--2 blocks from the Metro and within walking distance of restaurants, downtown DC, etc., couldn't ask for anything better. Would stay there again.

A Wonderful Surprise

This is a wonderful Hotel. The conference I was scheduled to attend was at a large "chain" hotel. While it was first class -- it certainly lacked the charm of Hotel Lombardy. From the greet by the doorman, to the man who seemed to live in the elevator (yes, an old fashioned elevator attendant), to the room service staff, the maids, and the resteraunt staff. This was a first class location -- not quite like the near next door neighbor (the White House) but near. Wonderful old world charm in the decor. Three block walk to the metro. A perfect place and location.

Great Location for Sight Seeing

The location of the hotel was great, within walking distance to the metro rail system and to most sight seeing areas. Great Staff was very helpful. The room that we had was a little small but very nice bathroom and it was all very clean.

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

Not to many breakfast spots around the hotel, you can use the hotel but if you are looking to go out and eat in the morning you might have to walk a little distance.

An OK place, nothing special

This is probably the most expensive hotel I have ever stayed at, but it's not above the level of hotels I have stayed at in other cities at half the price. The service was OK, nothing special. The fitness center has only treadmills and stationary bikes, no weight machines. Our room, facing away from Pennsylvania Avenue, was quiet, but I am not sure it would have been so had it overlooked James Monroe Park.

A first class hotel

My business trip was made easier by this hotel. Reminded me of a European hotel. I was made to feel welcome, valued, and at home. I look forward to staying again. One of the nicest hotels I've stayed at with the Waldorf on top!

great location

the hotel was in a great location, a 10 minute walk to the Mall -- a little rundown however. Our room lock was almost hanging out of the frame and was difficult to manoeuvre. Hallways looked in need of sprucing up.

"Visit Washington DC by foot"

Hotel Lombardy is an older hotel with sophisticated European charm. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant, even when we requested another room farther from the "original" elevator, which was quite noisy. A modern one will be installed soon. We were graciously upgraded to a suite! Both rooms, however, were lovely and spacious with new mattresses. The Restaurant was quaint. Food was good. Service a bit rushed, but adequate. The lounge is warm and inviting. The location is the best for visiting the DC museums. We walked everywhere! George Washington University is just across the street. Overall, we had a top notch experience, and I would highly recommend this hotel to friends!
