Downtown hotel near the National Mall, museums and monuments
The Holiday Inn Washington-Capitol is in a prime location for visitors who want to be close to the Capitol Hill, National Mall and museums. Two Metro stations are nearby. Many rooms have microwaves and mini fridges. Kids eat for free at the on-site restaurant. The hotel lounge features live music. Cool off or relax by the seasonal rooftop pool and take in the view of the Capitol.

Older but Bolder
Very convenient location
The hotel had everything we needed, but the location was the best feature. It was close to the metro, and close to the sites people go to see in DC.

Not Applicable
Save money by taking the Metro -- DCs subway system -- from the airport. It really is easy. Follow the signs to the Metro at the airport. Get a ticket for the Blue line (they each have a color) and get off at L'Enfant (I think that is how you spell it). From there, the hotel is only one block. While you are on the Metro, check out the map of where it goes. You can go almost anywhere (not Georgetown, unfortunately), and it is cheap. Be Brave!!

Great location for sightseeing!
The location was great....we were within 1 block of the National Mall and we walked to most of the Smithsonian Museums, the Capitol, National Monuments. The only drawback was that the room we had was at the back of the hotel and the train tracks (yes, multiple tracks!) were right outside our window. That 5:00 a.m. freight train was our wake-up call if not the 3:30 a.m. train! The tour desk in the hotel was very helpful in booking tours to Gettysburg, Mount Vernon, etc. For the price these tours were excellent. Also, they assisted us in choosing an excellent restaurant in Georgetown. Even though we had to deal with the early morning trains (I suppose we could have ask for a different room), I would definitely consider staying at the Holiday Inn-Capitol again. The location is unbeatable!

If visiting the Smithsonian Museums, get there early! Don't wait until noon or later, they tend to be really crowded later in the day. Also, try the hop-on, hop-off trolley, it was a great way to see a lot and eliminate some of the walking.

Great trip
Service was great. I broke the coffee pot pitcher and it broke into a million pieces on the floor. Within minutes after I called housekeeping, they were there with a vaccum and new pitcher. He even went back and got me a wine opener when he heard me say I could'nt drink the bottle of wine that I had bought earlier. I had also left some articles of clothing the the drawer and I called when I arrived home and they sent to right back to me fed ex. Great experience, I would visit them again.

There is not any close places to eat, we did walk to Pier 7, but it was about a 20 minute walk.

GREAT LOCATION .GREAT FOOD
the hotel was in agreat location to see washington and it's landmarks .there was great food and restraunts in the hotel and around the hotel which was nice when we came back tired and did't want to go far for anice meal . >The hotel staff were very informative about where to go and what we wanted to see.. It was one of thebest trips we have had for locations..to se the sites . thanks for a great trip to your city .

Great place for family vacations!
The free kids meals worked out great for us - prime location, within walking distance to many main attractions and to the metro line. Would definitely recommend for anyone!

Very family friendly.
The Holiday Inn was perfectly located for our stay in Washington,D.C. We took the subway from the airport (National) and did not need to rent a car since the Mall, Museums, and monuments that we wanted to visit were within easy walks of the motel. Our room was clean and comfortable with a view of the courtyard. We arrived very early (got to the hotel by about 10am) and were able to check right in (that was nice!!). I would definately recommend this hotel to other visiting families.

Great location
Very friendly staff & a great location for seeing the sights, especially the smithsonian museums. We had two adjoining queen rooms, perfect for our family of five. Would definitely go back.

Great location
The Holiday Inn Washington-Capitol was in a great location. Only a few blocks from some of the Smithsonians. The hotel has a restaurant, which is nice for breakfast and dinner. The rooms were clean and neat. They have an information desk and a friendly and helpful employee that will explain different tours and restaurants in the area.
