Great Experience

Over all the experience was great, the hotel was beautiful, rooms were extremely comfortable and staff was courteous. Although the food was delicious at the restaurant it was very pricy, so if you are looking for a quick bite to eat I recommend exploring around town elsewhere. If you dont mind spending the money, both the dinner and breakfast were ok and the waitstaff was polite. The room service was also very expensive even just for toast and tea. As an example, breakfast of a waffle and toast cost $30 at the restaurant (not room service).

Excellent Accommodations ... but no A/C

We enjoyed the hotel and it's location. The only complaint is that the room's air conditioner wasn't working. However, the maintenance worker was sent up at 11 p.m. and also brought a fan. It was nice. We only needed the room to sleep, the rest of the time was seeing D.C.

Very close to Chinatown where there are lots of restaurants, shopping, bars, and a movie theater. Also, the subway is only 3 blocks away at the D.C. Convention Center.

very cute boutique hotel

We had a great time. It's an old-fashioned boutique hotel with small but very nice rooms. It was perfect for us, since we were out and about most of the time. The bed was very comfortable, and the minibar was well stocked. We had a drink at the bar one night, which was nice but not stuffy. They have a lot of other things that we didn't get a chance to use, like a fitness center, in-room spa services, and a very pretty restaurant. We would definitely stay here again.

Henley Park Hotel Review

The hotel is 91 years old. The first night, a circuit blew in the room and knocked out all the electricity to the room. Then when the front desk was notified a maintenance man tripped the circuit breaker to restore electricity to the room. The next night, a maintenance man rang the doorbell to the room at 10:30PM waking us up. He was there to fix the telephone, which was restored already the previous night when the electricity went out. The room view was terrible. You looked out at other rooms' windows which were only about 30 feet away. Make sure those shades are drawn! And to get normal things like ice, you had to have a person deliver it to your room, tip included. All in all, the hotel was clean and the bed was very comfortable.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Take the Circulator bus to just about anywhere in D.C. There is a stop right down the block from the Henley Park Hotel. $1.00 for regulars and $0.50 for seniors.

mixed feelings

The only thing good about the hotel was the location (close to convention center). Otherwise, this hotel ranks in the lowest tertile of hotels I'd been in. The room was very small. The windows open to a construction area right next door. We had to keep the windows close during the daytime because the construction workers can look right into our room. When they paint at the construction site, the smell lingers for hours in the room. There was a stain on the ceiling. We told the front desk about it and they sent someone to the room to check it out and said it was not a leak, just a stain. We were there for 5 nights and the stain got bigger and changed shape, so I'm pretty sure it was a leak and not just an old stain. The bed gave us itchy rashes. Both of us felt sick after we left the hotel. All in all, this hotel is worst than motel 6.

Romantic getaway

We had a misunderstanding between orbitz and the hotel concerning who was responsible for our military discount. The hotel gave us an upgrade room in place of the discount as they said it was the responsibility of orbitz as they are a third party.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Use the hop on/hop off double decker bus service as it has frequent stops at all attractions and is less money that the tours. You can stay as long as you want at each stop and don't need to watch the clock for the tour bus which doesn't allow enough time at each location.

Small yet cozy

The rooms were small, yet very clean and cozy. There were several amenities that my husband and I had at the Henley that my brother didn't have at the Hilton on Embassy Row!
