off the beaten path

The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful when i showed up 3 hours before check in to drop off my luggage and let me know my room was ready and let me check in right away. The room was bright and omg was it huge. It was bigger than my first apt in DC. The location is my favourite part of the hotel, its not down in the heart of the tourist area nor is it out in the middle of nowhere. Logan Circle is an awesome little area that makes it worth it. theres plenty of eateries and bars around the hotel to keep you occupied at night without having to wonder to far around the District. Overall great hotel, great location and for the price it cant be beat.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

if youve never had ethiopian food, do yourself a favour and go to Dukem on 12th and U st NW and give it a go. Best place in the country in my opinion to get Ethiopian food. Also if you like places that are institutions go to Bens Chili Bowl and have a chili half-smoke.

Great DC Experience

Wonderfully appointed boutique hotel at a perfect location in D.C. Great walking and cycling to be had and excellent hotel staff. Mellow vibe amidst a frantic city. Interesting menu; pricy parking so leave your car or forget the rental - you won't need it. Pets are welcomed and quite a part of the experience. Would return with no hesitation.

Valet parking available, but very expensive. You really don't need a car at all.

Great value

For $125 a night on the top floor, the Helix was excellent. The room was spacious and looked very cool. The bed was very comfortable, I had a great night of sleep.

Friendly very helpful staff

Staying at the Helix was an excellent experience. All of the staff were terrific. It is a very eclectic place not posh. The food and bar are very good and the wine hour meet and greet was great. The room was very comfortable. A fun friendly place.

My favorite DC hotel.

The location is the most attractive part. Simple and chic. The bar lounge is nice and relaxing. Rooms are great

Good Experience

The pop art style of the hotel was great, although it did photograph a little bit nicer than it actually was. Service was good, the room was clean. They also offered a champagne hour and a hot chocolate bar hour which was a nice addition.

Kitschy hotel that was clean throughout

Our room with the king bed was very roomy, came with a bathrobe and hair dryer. Nice first floor bar which was always filled with guests. We had a room over the bar but it was super quiet so it must have been sound proofed. Location was great for nearby restaurants and bars, and has a 10-12 minute walk to the nearest metro station.

Stylish hotel in welcoming DC neighborhood

Biked down to DC from Pittsburgh and stayed at the Helix. Bike parking is immediately outside the lobby and monitored by the staff. The hotel is situated in an area of DC that's more so locals that tourists, I believe. Plenty of bars, restaurants and basic amenities, such as, grocers, pharmacies and a bike shop, all a short walk from the hotel. Leopard print bath robes were a nice touch.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

Churchkey! With such a healthy variety of beers, skip the white house tour and knock back a few at this place.

Fun and Comfortable

The staff was friendly and personable. They have their favorite movies on their nametags- a fun way to start conversation. Coffee was complimentary, but not in the room. Its located in the lounge. Not a big deal, but an extra step to get going in the morning. Location is great: quiet side-street but close to major roads to get you around DC and in and out of town easily.
