Upscale hotel for business or pleasure in the heart of DC
Located in DC's hip Penn quarter, the Grand Hyatt Washington is an elegant option for both business and leisure travelers. Five excellent restaurants and bars offer guests a host of dining options. A full-service fitness center and sauna, pool and steam rooms are onsite, and massage therapy and personal trainers are available. There is also a game room and dance floor in the Grand Slam Café, as well as two gift shops, a florist, on-site laundry, dry cleaning and a valet service. Hotel was very nice and staff was excellent. Walls are a little thin, you could hear toilet flushing from next door and the guests laughing and talking

Great location
This is an older hotel that has been nicely renovated and has a great location. The front desk staff are not helpful or service oriented but the bell staff and housekeeping are okay. Housekeeping will bang on the door at 9:00 a.m., even on weekends, so put the do not disturb sign out if you want to sleep late and use ear plugs because they will be banging on all the doors. The plumbing periodically whines loudly and sounds like a whale call. Avoid the overpriced restaurant there are many great restaurants nearby. The price is reasonable for what you receive and the location makes it worthwhile.

weekend stay
Easy drive to and from with parking. The pool was in the basement, small and crowded. Easy walk to the National Mall and museums. Family restaurant near by, Hyatt pricey for breakfast for a family. Having the Metro stop at the hotel a plus, a few minutes to Union Station.

Very Good Rates
The room we got was near the elevators and it was noisy pretty much all of the time. The new restaurant in the hotel was also very disappointing. However, the location was perfect for our sightseeing, and the staff was very helpful.

Grand Hyatt
Overall, very good. However, I do not expect to see only margarine suppied at the breakfast buffet. When butter requested, a single small pat was provided.

Staff Not Concerned
There was construction going on in the hotel and they started using a jack hammer prior to 8:00am. Additionally, the housekeeping staff started knocking on the door prior to 8:00am. When told we were still in bed, they came back only 30 minutes later. When I checked out the staff did not seem at all concerned about the inconvenience.

go to the cafe du park at the Willard intercontinental...food is great and the waiter "[...]" ha s story about the time be served Obama and Biden...although little on the steeper side...

Not that impressed!
The hotel was beautiful inside and conveniently located close to the Metro. However, the indoor pool and Fit Club was a huge disappointment and there was no hot tub! The Grand Cafe and the Cure Bistro was nothing to brag about. I would select places outside of the hotel to eat instead.

it was ok
room was neat and clean. pillows were too big. free tv channel selection was very good. street noise was audible on the third floor. flags hanging from exterior of the building were faded. restaurants in the hotel were expensive.

arriving from national airport, take the metro to the hotel. it was not easy to find the hotel door, however, so have the hotel address handy in case you exit the metro on the street nearby.

Stop nickel and dimeing me.
Room is fine but they charge for the fitness center, charge for the wifi. It's annoying. It makes them look cheap!
