Several pros but a few cons

Nice hotel in a nice area. Taxis readily available and subway right down the road. The room was small with a small bathroom which is great for one to two but not great for families. Most of the restaurants in the area close at 7:00 and this hotel's restaurant was pricey.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Ebbit's Grill (the oldest restaurant in DC) was very good and only a short walk. It is a pretty nice place with moderate prices. From there, a short walk to the White House. For families, there is a Subway, Quiznos and a Burger King closeby.

Very comfortable

This hotel is a historic hotel with the ambience of another era. It was extremely comfortable. My one critique is that it is located on a very busy street and so the street noise both traffic and people was a little loud...this is my only complaint.

It's about a ten minute walk from the Mall, so if you are a walker then this is a good hotel. Plus the streets around it are full of shopping and dining establishments.

Great location

Hotel is in good location but also very noisy location. The weekend we went there must have been 100 kids there visiting which also made it louder but the hotel is pretty nice.

Best all around hotel

The Crowne Plaza hotel was one of the best lodging experiences that occured to me while staying in Washington, D.C. As a constant visitor to our nation's capital, I am fully aware of the different types of hotels that are present in this section of town. By far, this hotel ranks the best in all categories. The only thing that I would suggest is that the hotel would promote free internet access. That should be an included feature. Other than that; the room was spacious and comfortable, the staff was extremely professional, and the upkeep was amazing. I highly recommend this hotel as a place to lodge.

No Hot Water

The Crown Plaza Hamilton is a lovely historic hotel. We enjoyed the restaurant next door and frequented the adjoining Starbucks. However, we had no hot water the entire time we were there - cold showers! When we called to report it, we did not get much response or an apology. The hotel also needs to pu;; out the carpets in the hallways leading to the rooms. We stayed on the 4th floor and when you stepped out of the elevator, the hallway reaked of smoke.

Good Location

The Crown Plaza Hamilton was located in the very nice area in DC. The room was clean however it was very small and the set-up of TV was incovienent. The thing that bother me most was the nickling and diming. To upgrade from a double room to king size bed was $20. To use the intranet was $15. To park for one night was $40. In addition the hotel did not offer much in terms of ammendities.

Check the Bedding it may be soiled!

Beautiful hotel ...parking is valet for $35 whew. But since the location was in downtown DC , the price for parking is to be expected. We checked in but never went to the room because we went to eat. We returned to the room a few hours later and the key card didn't work ...someone opened the door to the room we had been assigned. We went back to the desk , the clerk didn't believe me when i told her there was someone else in the room . They put us in another room , while i was sitting in the chair putting on my shoes i noticed a stain on the bedspread ...i looked closer and there were more spots ...VERY unacceptable . We were then moved to a mini suite on the Executive level. It was ok , but we were so tired that we fell asleep and we were in for the rest of the night.

Nice place to stay

My friends and I took a trip to DC and decided to stay this hotel. The stay was short and sweet. Nice hotel, clean rooms and nice and helpfull staff. The only issue we had was the parking. The hotel charges $33 a night for valet parking which is a rip off. If you need your car you have to call the valet # atleast 15 minutes ahead of time which was not convenient when we were going out. We forgot to call and have to wait about 20 mins for our vehicle.

Take Georgetown bus right across the street from the hotel to go to DC's outdoor shopping area. It was very nice and pleasant.

Disappointment

At check in we could not receive the keys for the room so it took a little longer as a bellman to let us in to the room. The hair dryer barely blew warm air, and had no hot no matter what setting you had it on. I picked up a towel that was all frayed and full of strings running the full length of the towel, I took it to the front desk and informed them that I throw towels like this away, and that I wouldn't use them to clean my car. The young man said you are right and threw the towel in a door behind the desk. And that was that.
