Channel Inn

I enjoyed this hotel for not being in the center of the City. It was a nice Marina area. Convenient to the Waterfront Metro station, Safeway, theater - not far only one or two subway stops to all the sightseeing. A little dated, but generally clean. The maid service did not bother you if you wanted to sleep in. Pool was closed when I was there.

Great location, great price. Nice view of the channel and very near the local seafood market. Good coffee shop for breakfast. Close to a Metro bus stop, but very close to the Mall( 10 -15 minute walk)

Hotel location was great as it was pretty close to the major museums and monuments. The price paid for the room was really good considering others within the city limits and parking was free. However, both soda machines on site were not working, there was no vending machine for snacks and the closest grocery store was several blocks away. The mattress was very thin and uncomfortable and the pillows were the same. Except for the one they left the second day we were there, that one was nice and fluffy. Overall our experience was okay, but we did leave a day earlier than planned instead of stay the extra night.

Location was very good & price was right BUT, on our arrival they only had us booked for 1 night instead of 3 as per our reservation. While the two less than friendly staff behind the counter discussed the matter in another language without any regard to us, they somehow work it out. Got our keys, went upstairs, keys didn't work. Got fixed, went upstairs, keys did not work. back downstairs, sent maid upstairs with us and lordy be, the key work. Not a word about sorry about that. Cafeteria for breakfast was good and staff there were friendly. Came back two weeks later for another 2 night stay. Arrived at 5:30 p.m. and told our room, with a king was not cleaned. Offered another room with 2 queens. I would not accept it and finally came up with a (king) room for us. If not for the location, I would not stay here again. The staff at the front desk, the face of the operation, has to be much friendlier!!! There is more but I will stop here!!

Okay, so the hotel/inn is WAY overdue for a makeover! But the location is great & easy access to all the fun in Washington DC. Free parking and free wifi. Our rooms were clean and tidy. But the rooms need to be updated! The floors and ceilings are showing their age. The best part is you park your car in the garage underneath....so it stays nice a clean and there is an attendant so your car will be safe. Overall, I would stay again. Just don't expect luxury.

The location was great but it was not very close to the subway station (10 min walk). The room was large and clean. The staffs were not very kind, but they did their job. Overall, a very nice choice for budget travelers.

We chose this hotel because of its close proximity to Tidal Basin where the cherry trees bloom. The view of the river was great too but the room was outdated with peeling paint, stained carpets, and holey blankets. It's in need of renovation to say the least. At least the bed was comfortable but the room was slightly overpriced in my opinion.

Depending on what you are looking for, this hotel would either be terrible or satisfactory. All in all I was satisfied with my stay at the Channel Inn. I'm sure this was a fantastic place back in the day, but I think that day was probably awhile ago. It was definately outdated and was nothing fancy, but it was clean and quiet and for the price it served the purpose well. It was easily half the price of the other places we looked at. It is a very easy walk to the Mall, Tidal Basin and metro station.
