OK Place

OK. The front desk supervisor scolded me when I lost the 25-cent plastic room key. Only my mother should scold me. There was no desk in my room, so I had to do post-meeting work with my laptop while sitting on bed. I asked for a cab to go back to Dulles but instead received an above market "limo". On the plus side, the room service food was superb and not terribly expensive, given the quality. Also, the internet connectivity seemed very, very fast for a hotel such as this. The mattress felt like a high-end foam one, and the sheets were high quality. It felt nice. And the TV was large and flat and fine.

Comfortable Place

Very comfortable place to stay, staff were friendly. Recent updates are great, bathroom and kitchen amenities made it feel like home. Easy access to free high speed internet. Great location in the city. Only draw back was the construction at night, was somewhat disturbing -- but comfortable bed made up for it.

My review of The Carlyle Suites Hotel

The rooms are smallish but very comfortable and attractive. The decor is very fun. The location is wonderful. It's an easy walk to the Dupont Circle metro. We got in at seven am and they let us check in early, which was wonderful after the awful flight we'd had. I was dissapointed that they didn't have on-demand movies...come on, that's what makes it feel like a vacation. Also, the room service is very limited (no breakfast, not so good desserts) and you have to go down and pick it up yourself on Sundays. Oh, and they were renovating while we were there, so the lobby was a NIGHTMARE. The dust was awful.

I would do it again, but...

Visited DC area with a friend to visit other friends/family for the weekend. The check-in process was fast, no problems. The room was cute...had a kitchenette and a unique stand-up shower which I had no seen before a hotel. The room itself was a bit smaller that expected. The view (or lack there of) was of an adjacent building. The room offered only a mini/half of iron board. The parking was probably my biggest disapointment. The hotel features indicated free self parking. Well the hotel does actually have a parking lot. Instead, the offer parking in the back of their building which crams about 10 cars back there is also parking for adjacent buildings (that are not hotel spots). There is no entrance to the hotel from back there. They have several signs posted indicating parking at your own risk. This gave a very unsafe feel. So instead, we chose to find parking on the streets. Had it not been for the weekend stay this would have been an issue. If you are not driving, then you will probably have very little complaints about this hotel.

Second stay almost as god as our first

We like this hotel mainly for the quiet but easy location. Our first stay was almost flawless (but don't fall for the meager breakfast buffet) so booked again. Everything was great except that our stove top didn't work and it took three times reporting it to get it fixed (did not appreciate maintenance knocking at 11pm to make the repairs). Also, the mini fridge went out but they fixed that right away. Super quiet and very comfy beds - slept like logs. Will stay again.

Great hotel in an amazing neighborhood

I chose this hotel for a family trip to Washington D.C. It is located just steps from all of the fantastic shops and restaurants in Dupont Circle. Convenient to get around without the use of a rental car because of the many metro stops close by. Miniature kitchenette was very useful and was able to grab snacks and refreshments at the nearby Safeway.

Worked for me

It was a very last minute booking. Spacious room. Good linens (always my priority). Very clean. Desk staff handled a screwup on delayed information from the booking source very well. Small bar/restaurant was actually a pleasant surprise. Nothing extravagant but tasty and well presented. Good bartender. Good location, quiet but accessible.

Comfy and convenient

I really enjoyed my stay at the Carlyle. The room was spacious. The suite options were quite handy - I used the refrigerator, couch, the toaster, ... as well as the nice bed/shower/... T he restaurant was friendly and quick for a short visit on my travel up day. It was an easy walk to the Metro for access to DC, and a shorter walk to the grocery store. I have previously stayed with friends while visiting DC - I now prefer the convenience of the Carlyle.
