The art deco style of this hotel makes it charming. The friendliness of the staff and the proximity to so many restaurants and sights lets us know that this will be our go-to place to stay in D.C.!

OUR FAVORITE HOTEL
WE HAVE BEEN STAYING AT THE CARLYLE AT LEAST THREE TIME A YEAR FOR ABOUT 15 YEARS. WE LOVE IT BECAUSE MOST OF THE ROOMS ARE SUITES WITH REFRIGERATORS, STOVES, MICROWAVES, COFFEE MAKERS ETC. IT IS A REALLY NICE LOCATION NEAR DUPOPNT CIRCLE AND THE METRO SO THAT ANYTHING IN DC IS JUST A SHORT METRO RIDE AWAY. I RECOMMEND IT HIGHLY FOR THE LOCATION AND FOR THE ART DECO STYLE WHICH WE REALLY LIKE. IT IS CLEAN AND THE STAFF FRIENDLY AND VERY WILLING TO HELP.

Excellent location
We were visiting our daughter that lives in the neighborhood for Easter weekend. The first room we were given was wonderful with the exception that the air conditioning hadn't been turned on for the season. I called the front desk and was told to open a window, but the room didn't have a window that could be opened. We stayed two nights in this room before they could move us to another room. Great places to eat and drink in the area. Walked to the White House in about 20 minutes. Area felt very safe and friendly.

Great hotel in great location
Staff very helpful and welcoming. Came back to hotel one night in the rain. Staff greeted us in the lobby with big towels to dry off. Very convenient to Dupont Circle metro stop - about 5 blocks and to all the restaurants in the Dupont Circle area. Think the hotel was originally an apartment house, because suites were huge, including a separate kitchen, area with sleeper sofa, walk-in closet, bathroom with separate vanity. Very comfortable, nicely decorated in art deco style.

Awesome 4 nights experience!!!
Everything about the hotel was a great experience. Staff are attentive and nice, they always make sure you are comfortable and has what you need. If you get a suite with kitchen, all the necessary kitchen accessories are all already there. The only problem with staying in this hotel is the limited parking, just have to make sure you drive to the back of the hotel early in the morning to wait for a spot.

Money-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
There is very limited parking spots behind the hotel (less than 20), if you didn't manage to get a parking when you check in, park on the street first and make sure you get up earlier next day and drive to the back of the hotel and wait there till someone get out (that is the best way to get a parking). As for shopping, the hotel has Safeway club member's discount number (a grocery store close to the hotel) that you can get to get discount when you are doing grocery.

Great location
It was our first time visiting Washington DC and what a great place! I did a lot of research on the web and did book a couple of hotels before making my final decision. I chose this one as it was in a good location and taxes were included in the price, not added to the final cost when arriving at the hotel ( like the others stated). The staff at reception were really helpful. However if there is one comment I would make, it would be that the buffet breakfast in the hotel is not promoted by the staff, which is ashame, as it was really good. We only found the breakfast room on our last day as we did not know it was there. Otherwise everything was great

Awesome
Great location near Dupont Circle (red line Metro station) @ New Hampshire between R & S Sts. Renovated, spacious Art Deco Suites. Reasonable rates and (free!) parking in rear despite post-election day Veteran's holiday. Unsure if air conditioning available in summer, but was unecessary @ the time. Would definitely return.
