D.C. Hotel Close to Great Connections

Hotel was spacious, very friendly staff; located close to DuPonte Circle Metro stop and one block from great restaurants, bars and Safeway. Their Bar was the only thing that was over priced. Staff was exceptional and the neighborhood was very peaceful.

Great and comfortable stay!

This hotel is great, all the bedrooms have a sofa bed, a small table, a kitchen with microwave, stovetop, fridge and even dishes for you to cook meals (pots, plates, silverware, mugs). There are groceries stores around the hotel where you can buy groceries to keep, prepare during your stay. The staff was nice and friendly, and yes they said "welcome home" every time we returned to the hotel at the end of the day. The Metro is a few blocks away (4-5). Great for families as well!

Great Hotel

This was a great hotel at a great price although not the most modern it was very charming. The rooms were very clean and the staff went above and beyond to make our trip perfect. The location was great, close to Dupont metro, but if you like to walk you could also walk to the White House and the museums. Parking was the only problem although free it was very limited. This is a great neighborhood where we felt safe even walking at night. I would without a doubt stay here again.

Good room and location

The hotel is located a couple of blocks form Dupont Circle for easy access to the Metro and there are plenty of good restaurants withing walking distance. The hotel itself was very clean and the staff was friendly. Having a small kitchenette was nice for an extended stay though we didn't use it. Everything appeared in working order. The only thing I would warn against is the free parking that is in the listing. They have about 20 spots at the hotel and if you don't get one, you have to park on the street between 6p and 9a or find a meter/parking garage for the day. The parking is first come, first serve and the best advice I was given was to go and check the lot occasionally and hope someone is leaving/has left. As this was one of the main reasons we booked - free parking in DC - we were not pleased. the hotel did apologize and after we checked in had a bottle of wine and other niceties waiting for us in our room.

Awesome 4 nights experience!!!

Everything about the hotel was a great experience. Staff are attentive and nice, they always make sure you are comfortable and has what you need. If you get a suite with kitchen, all the necessary kitchen accessories are all already there. The only problem with staying in this hotel is the limited parking, just have to make sure you drive to the back of the hotel early in the morning to wait for a spot.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

There is very limited parking spots behind the hotel (less than 20), if you didn't manage to get a parking when you check in, park on the street first and make sure you get up earlier next day and drive to the back of the hotel and wait there till someone get out (that is the best way to get a parking). As for shopping, the hotel has Safeway club member's discount number (a grocery store close to the hotel) that you can get to get discount when you are doing grocery.

cozy, vintage, environmentally green getaway

The hotel is just as it is described a luxurious boutique retreat for families or a romantic getaway. It is located in the middle of a very nice neighborhood and several world embrassies. The rooms are very clean and spacious. My room had a powder room, sitting area, and kitchenette which had fridge, microwave, stovetop and sink and all the amenities needed to prepare your own food. Located two block from grocery store and walking distance tometro and great shopping areas. But the restaurants in the hotel are very expensive. I loved the showers and the hotel has it own soap.

The Dupont area really comes to life after dark. It feels safe and its a great area to walk while sight seeing or have dinner at one of the many restaurants.

A Winning Room in WAshington

We were thrilled with our experience at Washington, DC's Carlyle Suites. We were met by friendly and professional staff, both at the door and front desk. The reservation was accurate and check-in was swift. The necessity of swiping the room key to access all floors via the elevator gave an added level of security. Our suite was sparkling clean and the kitchenette was amply supplied with dishware and cookware. The bathroom, while small, was modern and well designed, and the beds and bedding were extremely comfortable. Even though free parking was advertised, the relatively few spaces behind the hotel were always full; however, it was not difficult to locate a convenient weekend space on the street. For the price, we were delighted with our stay at the Carlyle Suites and would certainly stay again!

Family Visit to DC

Would not recommend this hotel for a family stay in the DC area. Although located in the Embassy District and close to the DuPont Circle Metro station, the hotel lacked space and amenities. Especially problematic was parking. WIth incredibly limited parking on site, I would call it a firm "no" if you will have an auto to park during your stay. Cleanliness was also an issue... The front staff was however above average, very pleasant and helpful.

Great home base for DC exploration

We stayed 2 nights at the Carlyle and found it to be the perfect spot for exploring DC. The metro was about an 8 minute walk (19th street exit closed for work) and it was great walking by various Embassies with the kids along the way. The kitchenette was small but functional (would be tough to cook much in but good for staging, warming and storage) We stored luggage due to early arrival and late departure which was very helpful. Had to pay for parking at the Hilton but next time will try to find free weekend street parking (hotel lot very small and full) Thanks; we hope to return
