Mother and daughter trip

Overall I gave this hotel a 4 because of the tempurpedic beds, cleanliness of the room, quality of the bathroom (tile, granite, contemporary shower design), quiet (never heard other guests nearby), and location. The art deco style was as pictured on the website, however the room was somewhat smaller than pictures. The parking was true to the other reviews I had read. We arrived early to get a spot (only about 15 parking spots--all full and some illegally parked--had to back my SUV out of the tiny driveway onto New Hampshire with the help of a bus driver parked out front) and had to go around the block many times while my daughter went in to get directions to a parking garage (we ended up paying $25 a day for a garage 2 blocks up the street). The staff was courteous after we arrived. The lobby area was surprisingly small and not impressive. The comfort of the room, location, and value made up for the parking inconvenience. We were there to see the memorials and museums and were pleased with our trip.

Dining tip: In Hotel

Bring your own breakfast items as this hotel does not have a complimentary breakfast. After an $8 sliver of chocolate cake one night at the bar/restaurant I was afraid to see what was offered for meals. The rooms have a nice kitchenette with dishes, silverware, cooktop, frig, and microwave.

Many good features

location, kitchenette, suite arrangement all pluses; as well as good deco design, pleasant and functional restaurant and bar, and good music selections. Jordan at the desk was exceptionally helpful and helped me and my business colleague have a really smooth stay.

Good Quality

Art Deco style Hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. It was during a heat wave at the time and it was nice that the front desk offered free water bottles for returning guests. I would definitely consider staying here again. Only wished that it was close to more of the shopping areas.

Gather with old friends

Had a wonderful stay at the Carlyle Suites. Clean rooms, friendly staff. Loved the fact that we could walk to the Safeway and pick up a few items. Lots of nice places to have lunch or dinner very near the hotel. Could walk to the Metro. Met with friends from outside the country. Would stay here again..Michigan

Great location and value

It was a great location. Very central and close to shops, restaurants and near all the sights. The rooms were large and very clean. The only downside was that free parking was promised and they only have about 20 spaces for a 100 room hotel. They do give you a flier with nearby parking garages but you have to pay for those.

An out of the way delight!

The staff were friendly, but they really need help with their English speaking skills. This was a little frustrating at check-in and at dinner and breakfast. The hotel was beautiful, and very clean. The bed was the most restful I've ever slept in. Really like the type of coffee maker in the room. I suggest having half regular coffee and half decaf coffee pods, not all decaf. Shower head had a problem, and a little bit of green mold starting to appear in caulking ....a pity. I would stay again.......thank you.

Time-saving tip: Long walk from hotel

Make sure you know where the hotel is located as it's a little far to the metro. The immediate area is very interesting, with a beautiful Masonic Temple nearby.(non Mason speaking).

Nice Hotel

I stayed at The Carlyle for a week while attending a class in DC and it worked out great. The location was within walking distance to Dupont Circle so there were a ton of restaurants/shopping close by. The hotel is small and doesn't have all the bells and whistles as bigger places might but I had no complaints. The staff was very friendly; I valet parked my car and was in and out every day and the attendants were fast and courteous. The room was clean and had everything I needed to be comfy for the week. The kitchen was great for making breakfast. The bed was Tempurpedic and very comfortable. For the cost, I couldn't find a better option in the city and I would definitely return to the The Carlyle.
